Saike Once Again 133

And here we are on the final volume of Saike! I haven't really touched this since the volume came out earlier this year, so revisiting it is kind of nice. It really does feel like Fukuchi's proceeding series "Ponkotsu-chan kenshou chuu" is an extension of Saike as it's whole premise is basically what this final volume is about. I'd be really surprised if Fukuchi doesn't somehow tie both series together, but so far it has yet to show that connection. Either way this final volume is less "climatic battle" and more of a victory lap for Fukuchi's second longest series.

And we oracle holders were born to prevent that from happening.

1548 active volcanoes and 19040 that are otherwise not will all erupt at once.
The debris, noxious fumes, pryoclastic flow, melted snow, volcanic mud and lava flow, as well as the volcanic ash, and the avalanche of earth and rocks....
Will not only kill off humankind but one million two hundred and eighty thousand other species.

There is one way to stop this from happening.

The dude who prophesied the massive eruption..

This was all in “preparation” to prevent the mass extension of humanity in three years.
It's likely the number of ability users has reached it's peak now.
Mikan: B—But just how many ability users do you need to gather?
Hizu: If we need at the very least 100 people to stop a single volcanic reaction....

We have to take the size of these volcanoes into account.
Saike: H—How are we going to stop an eruption?!
By using oracles to suppress it?!
Hizu: Nah.

Saike: The ability fumes?
Hizu: That's right.
Up until now I was using the ability fumes to “seek out those with powers” and I thought that's all it was good for.
However I was wrong.
Those fumes are the energy for our abilities.
Even time traveling “oracles” cannot work without this byproduct.
This energy is essential for putting out the volcanic eruption.

It's for that we'll need at least two million oracle holders!!
Saike: It's impossible...
There's no way we can gather that many people in three years...
For one thing how do we begin to get them....
