Increasingly, Florida's theme parks have been measuring success by beautiful squeals from the mouths of babes. Recognizing the secret to an adult's heart is through their kids' and grandchildren's eyes, the state's attractions are designing new features for younger tykes--especially, kids 3 to 7.

Young children may enjoy Scales and Tails, where they could find out about and touch unusual animals. Safari Canyon is an exotic spot to see jungle cats and other animals, and Alligator Bay features gators. To participate kids farther, they are provided a lightweight ZooKey to insert at exhibits to trigger information and jungle jingles.

* Wait Disney World Resort: This summer, the newest Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh opened at Fantasyland from the Magic Kingdom. Some audience members take part in the show, following Doug Funnie, his pet Porkchop and best buddy Skeeter throughout the ups and downs of preteen life. For diversion, families may head for Disney's Winter Summerland, a brand new wacky mini golf attraction with just two 18-hole courses--one with wintery Santa theming, another with tropical Florida decoration.

Back in Kissimmee, the world's first all-suite Holiday Inn--the 80 million Holiday Inn Family Suites lake Buena Vista opened midsummer. As adults check in, kids can also, by blowing off a choo-choo horn. Kids suites feature Coca-Cola polar bear, choo-choo, space travel, ice-cream parlor, and character themes. Ken Hoffman, vice president-sales, advertising and reservations, says occupancy is about 90 percent, and the resort appeals to the youngest guests.
