Mag Talk Grand Jump + Grand Jump Mucha & Mecha - News and Discussion

I threaded out the latest Grand Jump (well, the stuff I read in it) for the first time in a while. All the TOC/colour page goodness is in there, as well as an expanded look at the latest chapter of Shrink, which continues to be the most interesting series, even after its hiatus

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

I’ve already got that one in THE CHART, but I should update the work listed from Mutou Black to Last Saiyuki, just for recognition’s sake. Also oof, more new authors with connections? at this point there’s so many new changes to make to the blasted thing I should draw up a new version from scratch

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

Sorry this almost passed me by. Jun Tomizawa holds the rights to his own series, so this is totally available in Japanese on Bookwalker, so at the least you can check a free preview. https://bookwalker.jp/de789b4824-a395-40c0-8621-ed72e7831e04/ It’s... quite a weird one. I’d be surprised if any...

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

Very little. A couple of images that make it seem like a Japanese equivalent to the sorta strips you’d see in like VIZ (the UK one, not the media company) or MAD, and that’s about it. George Horvath at Land of Obscusion found... pretty much the same stuff, when doing their history of Jump stuff...

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

God, this has a lot of room for choices. Temptation would be something like Manga Drifters, that ran for years, but is a pain to look up because of a certain, more contemporary manga called Drifters. I’ll say one I actually own and have read, though; Scrum by Koji Koseki. A one-volume rugby...

Mag Talk Weekly Young Jump (2007 - 2021)

Ongoing-wise with Young Jump I get volumes for Batuque and Shadows House in Japanese, and was getting Golden Kamuy and Kaguya-sama in English before UK Comixology prices went up by 60%, and that’s about it. Most series I liked either transferred or got cancelled (Dorokei, Tonari no Akujo, Kaori...

Mag Talk Weekly Young Jump (2007 - 2021)

If you’ve ever wanted a peek at Young Jump’s spinoff magazine about the paralympic games I’ve now finished my highlights of the fourth issue. Less Takehiko Inoue presence than previous issues, but he still did the cover.

Uramiya Honpo???? I guess it’s part of its 20 years celebration, but that’ll be an odd experience for YJ readers, I’m sure

The absolute minimum for the GJ thread this time out, as I’m knackered and Paralympic Jump is out soon, so choices were made.

Mag Talk Weekly Young Jump (2007 - 2021)

I wonder. I feel like it’s fair to say that, despite its good circulation, YJ has the least clear identity, and less success with new series than any other Jump mag (maybe SQ is similar? I don’t know it well), so I could believe there’s something wrong behind the scenes

Mag Talk Grand Jump + Grand Jump Mucha & Mecha - News and Discussion

Unless someone is doing them externally I don’t think so. I usually just try to time correctly on the site for the daily, weekly, and monthly tabs on the site and use it for a general idea. Like right now it’s 5 days since release, so weekly is pretty useful...

    Mag Talk Weekly Shounen Sunday (Shogakukan) - Part 2 (2015 - 2021)

As the fan it’s probably up to me to write to some animation studios. And then I can enjoy being the only viewer, too

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

Eh, Sundome!! Milky Way has just launched a spin-off for alternate endings, so I’m up for this in concept if it’s alternate ending stuff. Mighta been best to be separated out like that is, though

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

I think it’s easier to deal with Shimabukuro than Watsuki because the ages of those involved were higher, but ultimately you’re right. His punishment was larger and his suspension longer, but he was back with Ring only a short while after, and back with Toriko a few years after that. Viz aren’t...

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2020] - Discussion and ToC Talk

Why is it that pedophile apologists keep saying “you people” when talking about anyone critical of, and I can’t believe I have to keep saying this, a convicted pedophile. Discussing this will always be relevant, and always important. Japan isn’t a monolith and the law finding that Watsuki was a...
