Ladies and Gentleman, dear Otakus,
welcome to MangaHelpers' new season of the Anime League!​

About

• This league has one purpose and one alone. To crown the best Anime of the season.

Rules

• Every user gets to nominate his top 3 episodes of the week in this thread.
• Nominating day is on Monday. It is possible to nominate before that day, but not after the following Tuesday.
• A week goes from Monday to Sunday. The Nomination day for that whole week is the day AFTER that Sunday. For example: This week goes from Sep 25th to Oct 01st, 23:59 CET. Voting days for this week would be the 02nd and the 03rd, 23:59 CET.
• Voting is possible till the weekly ranking has been posted.
• The nominations get counted. The Anime with the most votes in total wins the league.
• There won't be a restriction for Anime which have no threads here
• Only TV shows count (no OVA, no movies, no ONA, no TV specials)
• Pre-airs aren't eligible.
• A new seasonal show needs at least 10 episodes to be eligible.
• Shows with irregular airing or episode numbers will be dealt with accordingly.
• The nominations for all shows will count as if they all had the same amount of episodes during this season. Shows with just 10, 11 or 12 episodes will get additional points based on the average they got so far to make it even.
• A show which is longer than one cour is eligible for the season until this season ends or reaches 13 episodes. Whichever comes first.

Results

• We will post an updated table periodically to keep you updated about which Anime is leading so far.
• A weekly ranking of the participating users will be shown as well!

- Pluto, (1 hour episodes x 8)
- Kusuriya that will start on Oct 21th with 3 episodes aired in once.
- Sousou no Frieren with 2 hour animation 1st episode (or 4 episodes ?)

Yeah I always feel blessed with that scheduling.

Frieren: Can vote 4 times at once. Will reduce the votes of the week afterwards to 2 of course.
Pluto: Is an ONA. Not eligible.
Kusuriya: Same as Frieren just without the reduction. =3

I can see why Sousou won best new manga of 2021.

80 years of human progress was enough to render the Elder Sage of Corruption irrelevant, interesting.

The way Heiter tricked Frieren to take care of Fern was brilliant.

Gojo's having a blast killing dragons while he's sealed.

Sousou no frieren, the most expected anime for me after kusuriya all 4 parts of were equally great so 1, 3 and 4. Great adaptation so far really amazing feel good anime so far ( when times comes, some people here will deserve to get wiped ) I feel bad for Himmel seiyuu, given a main character role to have just been able to say a couple of lines ( FB non include ) Madhouse is doing a great job for the visual immersion an soundtrack The birthday gif was so adorable <3

Sousou no Frieren x2 - Feels weird voting for an anime more than once but.. I liked this one enough I'll give it two.
Shangri-la Frontier - This anime looks and sounds incredible.

Spoiler: I saw a pre-air last week...

I saw a pre-air last week in Japanese for:
Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai
It' looked really good, but I haven't seen the translation yet. That's ok though since we can't vote for pre-airs anyway.
It shows on Mondays, so it should be up already!

Other than that, I didn't actually watch much this week.

Sousou no Frieren x2 - Feels weird voting for an anime more than once but.. I liked this one enough I'll give it two.

That new format we see more and more makes things complicated. Though, there wasnot 4 epsiodes but one 2 hours episode that was divide into 4 parts. that was the case for a couple of other animes this seasons that started with a longer episode. Kusuriya tho will be 3 episodes and not one extended one because it starts later so they will air 3 episodes at once.

Felt more like 4 episodes to me, considering they all had an opening and ending. 2 hours special wasn't really necessary in my eyes (unlike Oshi no Ko), but all 4 eps were great so I'm not complaining : D

100 Kanojo: 2 down, 98 to go, gonna be riot lol. Looking forward to Nano.
Goblin Slayer: Cow Girl
Shangri-la Frontier: He has a future as a wingman.
JJK: Ready for the upcoming intensity.
Helck: Helck's past, here we go.
Undead Unluck: Aesthetic wise great, especially the first 3 mins were spectacular.
Hametsu no Oukoku: Wipe out the empire for what they did to Chloe!
Ragna Crimson: Ragna and Crimson final scene was similar to Vanitas first episode end.
Berserk of Gluttony: Gluttony and Greed combo, solid start
Shy: My Bocchi Academia
Tokyo Revengers: Best arc is here
Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki: Sasuga Komari-sama
Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri: Insane Detective, I like it.
Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai: Even the best laid plans go awry.
Keikenzumi na Kimi: Runa is like a blonde Akari(Fuufu Ijou)

Kusuriya, Dr. Stone, Dead Mount

Picking 3 out of this flood of quality anime every week is going to be really rough. Anyway this week I'm going for three anime about crazy people.

Eminence in Shadow - Did our "hero" get involved in this situation just because he wanted to run around and repeat a chunni line he heard? Yes. Yes, he did.
Shangri-la Frontier - This guy is the Zaraki Kenpachi of gamers.
100 no Kanojo - I read some of the manga, which is really crazy, so I wasn't sure what an anime version would look like. Turns out.. really crazy. In a good way.

Honorable mentions.

Sousou no Frieren - Obviously still great, a few other things just edged it out for me.
Kenshin - As good as a Yahiko episode could be.
Mahoutsukai no Yome - Strong episode with Chise doing a rare power flex. It's just a stronger week.

Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai - This was pretty good!
Shangri-La Frontier - I missed watching this the 1st week, but watched both episodes this week! Really good!
SPY x FAMILY Season 2 - Blowfish pain killer?

Boushoku no Berserk - Not bad so far... Anime and manga always seem to like the concept of Gluttony
Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetwu desu - A Returner's magic should be special… I always intended to read that.
Rurouni Kenshin - Yahiko-chan is the hero of the day to the sounds of cicadas in the background

1. Jujutsu Kaisen: Great fights and everything.
2. Undead Unluck: Very good start for this adaptation.
3. Hyakkano: Incredibly fun.

HMs:

• Mokushiroku no Yonkishi: Very good start for this adaptation as well. With even added scenes. Hopefully they won't rush things like in NnT, the first cour should be good in that department at least.
• Helck: Nice flashback.
• Sousou no Frieren: Stark's introduction.

This season is insane. I can't remember the last time I have watched so many good shows.

Yeah, this is a season where it's going to be difficult to pick your top 3...

SL Frontier (series really captures the MMORPG feel, it's great. Also dayum, the production values)
Jujutsu Kaisen (fight looked great and got me hyped
Undead Unluck (seems completely unhinged, I like it lol)

HMs:

100 Girlfriends (Way better than I thought, almost would've put this in my top 3. This is going to be a crazy ride for sure)
Frieren (feels like the real meat will come next episode)
Spy x Fam (Gajeel said all that had to be said)
