Different story arcs are a staple in any long-running manga series. A great arc could have moved readers to tears, made their sides burst out from laughter, or made them sit and think about what the meaning behind the story is. Your decision to vote for the best arc could be influenced by the general storyline, the action, the characters and their interactions, or just how it made you feel overall. What do you think is the best arc in the Hunter x Hunter manga?

What's the point of having nominations for this category? Everyone has their own favorite arc for different reasons, which means each one is going to end up on the board anyway. Except maybe the Zoldyck arc, because it's so short.

My nominations:

Greed Island - It had a good mix of fun and serious parts. The dodge ball game had me on the edge of my seat throughout, and it was fun seeing our heroes teaming up with Hisoka.

Hunter's Exam - As the arc that started it all, the Hunter's Exam is very nostalgic for me. I enjoy it's brighter atmosphere compared to later arcs, and how it was still able to contrast this with the constant stream of violence and death throughout the exam.

Yorknew - It's a dynamic and serious arc, with tons of twists and engaging character interactions.

Btw what do you guys mean by york shin?

Yorkshin is what Yorknew is called in Japan.

Yorknew Arc:

Yorknew City Arc for me, there is no doubt. Too much awesomeness on Kurapika's and Phantom Troupe's side. Badass villains always make a great arc. The Phantom Troupe reminds me of the early Akatsuki from Naruto. Mysterious, powerful, smart, cool characters, nice set of abilities, loyalty (of course there are exceptions) and so on. Not to mention all the fights/skirmishes between the Phantom Troupe and Kurapika, the Shadow Beasts, Gon/Killua and Zeno/Silva. Hell, I'm still watching Chrollo vs. Zeno/Silva when I'm bored. Even though it was pretty short, there is something special about this fight.

Overall the plot, twists, turn of events, characters and fights were fascinating. Despite so much going on, it never felt fast or slow-paced (as far as I can remember though). The whole arc was structured brilliantly.

Greed Island Arc:
This arc is proved that a game is not just a mere game, but a life and death fight. It's the same in real life. The dodgeball game was the pinnacle of this arc. Hisoka should stick with our protagonists a lot more. They make a cool team.

Chairman Election Arc:
I can't remember any arc, which focused so much on talks and mind games and was still hella entertaining every single chapter. Ging and Pariston were amazing and it was really funny how Togashi made Leorio a favorite among all those accomplished Hunters. Not many people have the privilege to write "punched the hell out of Ging's face" in their résumé. (#1, #2, #3)

What's the point of having nominations for this category? Everyone has their own favorite arc for different reasons, which means each one is going to end up on the board anyway. Except maybe the Zoldyck arc, because it's so short.

But, people seem to have a common favorite in Yorknew arc, so yeah, not every single one will end up on the board. Plus, this is a good way to cover broad range of people's favorites and from there, they can choose their top 1 or 3 or whatever. Just in case someone might have forgotten an arc or two.

Has there ever been a bad arc? I don't think so! I liked them all actually. My personal favorite was the Yorkshin arc. That is the only one I will pick even though I liked the others too.

Some people chose the election arc? Even though it's a short one (I heard) I hope the anime can continue after chimera ant arc and do this this arc too.
I heard there are some leaks saying that the manga will resume in Dec.. Is that true?
