It's important to have some context to understand the tonal whiplash that this page conveys. (<< I use that right @Seraph ??)

The focus beforehand was firstly on Sei, our pushover protagonist. He had been troubled, by a mother slash villain of epic proportions who pushes this boy to the edge. In a simple outburst, Sei vandalises school property and finds himself spiraling. He happens upon this park bench where he sits to lap up the serenity.

Seemingly by chance, a younger peer of Sei's interrupts his meditation. This pesky girl goes by the name of Fukuchi. She concocts a relatable backstory to manipulate Sei, who will latch on to anything in his moments of turmoil.

Which works.

Mother dearest drops a cliffhanger like it's never been dropped before. In 3 words she had more presence than the rest of 2018 seinen manga's combined.

IMHO this is worthy of a "Best Page of 2018" honours.
