If I squint, I guess I can see the female Byakuya comparison, but I don't really see much else.

Virgo/Balgo looks a bit like Ichigo, but it isn't as blatant as Eden Zero. And I say that as someone who likes Eden Zero.

Anyway, the only reason I wouldn't want this to be made is that honestly I don't think this has as strong a beginning as Bleach. We have written and drawn proof that Kubo can deliver more than this.

nice one shot. I know Kubo is a big Radiohead fan and wondered if they inspired the title for this short story. Two main characters definitely felt at odds with each other and the dragons were a nice touch The Soul Society thing put questions in my head too.

Why do you say he is a Radiohead fan.Where did you get that information

Not yet, unfortunately. It could either be just a one shot for the anniversary or it could be in the middle of planning for a proper series. We don't know.

Oneshots don't "sell" unless they're included in a tankoubon at some point. And even then, that doesn't necessarily mean it sold because of a particular story. A oneshot's placement in the ToC also isn't really indicative of popularity either, just that editors might put it further towards the front of the magazine to get more attention for it. It's not like finding out how popular a specific chapter is in WSJ due to it's ranking, as the oneshot isn't even going to be in the magazine again where it could be ranked.

It's probably going to be hard to do comparisons for these Corps and the Divisions as there is an entirely different culture between the two groups. The only three that resembles the actual Squads in terms of Roles are Gallows, Sabres, and Patchwork.

Inks likely specialize in ritual magics and related spacial stuff. I imagine they provided the Barrier Tape that Ninny used.

Anthems probably specialize in spells in general or the details that go into their invocations.

We need more information on how their world works, but Liturgy implies that there is a religious aspect of their culture and Sacreds oversee the worship.

Pipers, as stated in series, are the group that deals with Dragons non violently and harvest them. Likely an allusion to the story of the Pied Piper.

Billionaires are the ones who probably deal out the points, achievements, and payment. I wouldn't be surprised if they also kept tabs on general performance and pass the info on to Gallows.

Sabres, yeah, they are definitely the combat group who specialize in taking down Dark Dragons. Ninny wanting to join them to fight and the broadcast warning make that clear.

Patchwork is also likely similar to the 12 Division. Their motif also resembles a number of Bleach characters, like Senjumaru and Urahara's Bankai.

As for Gallows, Personal Affairs definitely imply that they make the major decisions, including Execution. Ninny wanting to look good for them just to get to Sabres imply as much as well as Bazz B Bruno asking Wolfgang his thoughts on Balgo's situation.
