Just wondering whether anyone here had read any manga from the kodomo demographic? I'm talking about series like Doraemon and Beyblade. (Mangahelpers labeled Doraemon under 'Shonen' though...)

Frankly, the last kodomo manga I've read was the one for Rockman EXE and that was a long time ago. I think it was more popular as an anime though. In fact, looking through the CoroCoro wiki entry, it looks like many of these series were more popular as anime or their original game counterparts.

I watched a number of these. Some were definitely better than others. Zoids for instance was great stuff. Rockman EXE on the other hand not so much.

I've watched Bayblade....ah Kai, he brings back memories with Dranzer. :)

I still remember a few. Dragoon was Tyson's Bitbeast.
I forgot Max's but I know it was a purple turtle type...and Lee's was that tiger, forgot his name as well. :) Kenny's bitbeast was his laptop, am I right?

Black Dranzer and Dranzer were the best though.

About Ratchet and Clank, their manga designs look a bit weird. Ratchet has a huge grin a giant bushy eyebrows.

Anyone got pics of Jak and Daxter manga?

I'm curious about the Zoids: Generation manga.

I've seen that Super Mario-kun long time ago. I thought that was an odd comic.

Available? You mean where you can buy the manga? If so I don't really know. Sorry.

i used to read Coro Coro a lot when i was a kid. (up till 6th grade, I always bought CoroCoro instead of WSJ).
they were pretty entertaining. it would be really nice if i could have read the end of some of the series, like Coroket, Rockmen, Duel Masters, etc.

So Corocoro comics just started up yet another spin-off magazine! This one is called Corocoro Aniki (コロコロアニキ), and it looks like it will stick around for a while with bi-monthly releases. The first release was on October 15th, 2014.

I guess it sold really well for the first issue. I guess having tons of extras and videogame dlc codes to "Puzzle & Dragon" is the way to children's hearts these days.

Here's the line-up in Japanese (some previews are on their website & twitter):
こしたてつひろ「爆走兄弟レッツ&ゴー!! Return Racers!!」

But what I find super interesting is that Hiroyuki Takei (Shaman King, Ultimo, Jumbor) is now drawing for the magazine. He's got a short series going now (4 pages in first issue) called "Dear Tokuda Zaurus-sensei" (拝啓 徳田ザウルス先生). And then coming in March issue he'll be working on a larger spin-off (possibly 1-2 volumes). And... depending on how you read that first page (based on the dates...) it looks like he might be ending his Jumbor and Ultimo manga series in 2015. It's looking like he might be completely jumping publishers away from Shuiesha to Shogakukan!? Very interesting if that's the case...

(For some more specifics on Dear Tokuda Zaurus-sensei, I have some of it written up on the Patch-Cafe website)

I picked up the latest issue of Corocoro for pokemon stuff (and got disappointed) and there was the a new manga that just started in it

it's called Animal Stamp, let me try to describe the premise

it's like pokemon (proxy battle) but instead of pokemon you fight with animals, also apparently you can order your monster to attack the other trainer lol

and instead of pokeballs you control the monsters by stamping them with a special stamper

it's silly and childish but I liked it, i don't know how they decide which series get to survive in this magazine but I hope it does survive

This is really nice to see, especially with the industry trend of seeing less magazine sales. I knew Splatoon was big in Japan, but I had no idea it was this huge. I see that Pokemon and Mario (my trues loves) both have series in this, which is refreshing to see. Besides Splatoon, are any of these other series really big/achieving a large level of success?

these kids magazines don't have a digital version so their circulation have not been affected by it

Yokai Watch was pretty successful a couple of years ago, the manga doesn't sell like it used to but it still better than more than half of the line up

Oh, then that makes perfect sense. I grew up following Corocoro for new Pokemon information, so I wouldn't mind seeing how some of these Nintendo series' manga adaptations are. I never even knew that Kirby had a manga adaptation

You should be more surprised when these kinds of games don't have manga adaptations.

I'm not sure why, but Kirby just never crossed my mind for having a manga adaptation. Taking a moment to think about it, the series itself could lend itself to a wide variety of interesting stories, so that makes more sense once the shock wore off
