Only anime and elements of anime that aired in 2015, including anime that aired in fall 2014 and carried over into 2015 (2 cour series), are eligible.

So wait.. if those characters aren't eligible for "supporting" are they eligible for "male lead"? Not quite sure I fully grasp where the dividing line between the two categories is supposed to be.

Is "male lead" supposed to be for all main characters? Because "male lead" means we can only vote for protagonists and not other main characters. For example in One Punch Man Genos isn't a male lead but he isn't supporting either. So I had assumed he'd belong here since he's closer to supporting than lead.

I guess what I'm asking is what category should Genos and Gakuto be in?

According to MyAnimeList, they both are supposed to be main character:
