My apologies, i wont be active for at least 24hrs maybe a couple of days very likely, not even sure to have internet access, if i manage to have wont be able to campaign properly anyway, i ll try to write something when im back, hopefully. One of the first pages of the first chapter uttered by our friendly neighborhood Glasses-kun used to introduce the present-day setting of Gintama. An Edo invaded by Amanto(alien species from outer space), and a corrupted government that had surrendered to them, effectively surrendering the very pride of Edo, rendering Samurai's obsolete. Of course, these samurai wouldn't go down without a fight, they would fight valiantly, becoming part of folklore.
However, given the state of Edo in the first chapter, we know it was a losing effort.
And thus the Amanto have free reign, with Edo at their mercy, Life continues, even with roaming Amanto on the streets, daily life resumes, and thus the story of Gintama begins.

A story about a man's own escapism bringing life to a new family...
A story about those shackled by their past...
A story about regret, hatred, appreciation, and remembrance...
But is it only a story defined by what has occurred in the past? Definitely not, because this story is also about the present and the future.
A story about growing up...
A story about promises fulfilled...
And those promises that aren't...
A story about two men who fell in love with the same woman...
A story about the greatest gorilla to ever walk the earth, and the police force he created...
A story about love...
And about loneliness...
A story about forgiveness...
A story about Santa Claus...
A story about a Silver Soul !
Because that is precisely what Gintama stands for.

Ginpachi Sensei's Lesson Corner: Final Lesson
Fun Fact:
The first volume of the series(volume 1) and the final volume of the series(volume 77) are nearly identical with the first volume depicting Gintoki all alone, the final volume depicting him with many of his comrades signifying the changes in Gintoki's personal life.

Another funny thing are the chapter titles of the first and last chapter:
First chapter: Nobody With Natural Wavy Hair Can Be That Bad
Final Chapter: Nobody With A Natural Perm Is A Decent Guy

Gintama is awesome. A series with many comedic tones, whether it is via original content or a parody of popular works or popular culture itself. What separates it, is its ability to flip a switch and change the tone of the story from something so lighthearted to something so heavy, at times very relatable and at other times simply riveting while letting the reader engross themselves in the daily life of the characters, be it the simple things, the difficult things, the realistic, the unrealistic.
This will likely be the end of the Gintama Campaign ( probably) so with that in mind, a huge thank you to everyone for their support in these Manga Wars and to the Staff Members for their hard work both in public and behind the scenes.
