The image shows a galaxy cluster in the sky of the Southern Hemisphere as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago. It's the oldest and highest resolution picture of the cosmos so far.

It looks a lot like images taken by hubble.

Only better.

It's intended to be an upgrade to Hubble, so yeah. It took this picture in a matter of hours, whereas Hubble's deep field images took days/weeks.

It can see back further than the Hubble can as well, to about 100-250 million years after the big bang, 13.7 billion light years away.
