Synopsis :

In an imperial court in ancient China, it has been a few months since a 17-year-old girl known as Maomao was kidnapped and forced to work as a low-level servant at the emperor's palace. Still, she manages to retain her curious and pragmatic spirit, planning to work until her years of servitude are over. One day, however, she catches wind of the fact that the emperor's two infants have fallen gravely ill. She decides to secretly take action, drawing on her experience as a pharmacist raised in the poor red-light district. ​

Despite Maomao's attempts to remain anonymous, she soon catches the eye of Jinshi, an influential eunuch who recognizes her talents. Maomao soon finds herself in the emperor's inner court, where she gradually makes a name for herself by utilizing her knowledge and eccentric personality to solve various medical mysteries.​

Started this a couple of months ago, quite an interesting reading so far, the series is still ongoing and didnt know but it s selling quite well in Japan, but seems quite underrated elsewhere.
The Mc's personnality is great and unusual, with an interesting background. i like her guts like in this scene

i hate tagging, so apologies for doing it, i just feel its quite a waste this little gem is criminally underrated @Brandish @syx @Farfalla ofc i cant promise anything, im aware it might not be to everyones liking, but this manga might interest you (hopefully) (also syx its still ongoing ) is a slice of life, has some historical background and a subtle romance, some drama too, and characters so far are great Farf-chan i m almost certain you d love the mc,

Finally caught up to chapter 34. Really loving this manga. Now the plot is really taking off. I want to know what Sui Rei's problem is with that whole stunt she pulled. I want to know what Maomao's reaction will be to Rakan when she finds out who he is. And I just need more Jinshi period.

Since @Erinyes recommended this series to me, I decided to check it out. Just caught up with the latest chapter (chapter 34). I really love the interactions between Mao and Jinshi, their dynamics definitely make the series more interesting.

Really love how the previous incidents all seem to tie together, I didn't see that one coming to be honest. Will be following this series, curious to see what's going to happen next!

Chap 35 ooooout

Its a lot Maomao thoughts about Gyokuyou potential pregnancy, and about the new consort Ru ran and her family influence. Otherwise, as usual Maomao proves again how smart shes is, and as usual shes a lot of fun, love so much her expressions. sadly no Jinshi moment.

that page is interesting, im certain we re being prepared for some upcoming events/incidents regarding Ru ran.

I really love the little hints around the story line that make you addicted to the story line. Fine characters you just can love the pairing of mao mao & jinshi.

New chapter : So briliant and so sad. we get to see the whole Rakan's story, and Maomao's mum. I felt so bad both, i have so much more sympathy for Rakan now knowing the whole story.

This girl is killing me

some interesting points are raised in this chap and i like how Maomao was honest about her father, she seems to see him as a rival as she admitted being jealous af Mr Strategist-san and Rakan appears more and more a weird but likeable character.

Theres an existing alternative version of the manga. Both adapatations are based on the novel, ofc. the 2nd has never been translated before, seemingly the team who is tranlating KnH will pick it.

Finally read chap. 40!! lmao nice headbutt She totally deserves it too, being carried like a princess and all she could talk about is her reward XD

Pinky grows back, but all that is just sad, poor Maomao.

So the alternative version scan started, the team has translated 2 chapters. So its the same story , different pace tho, different perspectives i feel too, its enjoyable, too, i liked it so far, but i prefer the other, it is more detailed, with more focus on Maomao's personatlity.

I've read up to about chapter 30 over this week.

As long as the cast can stay as playful as they are the manga will always entertain. Maomao x Jinshii so needs to happen he cannot be a eunuch! There is too much swag power with that man to be 'missing his gift' as Maomao would put it. I like the humour mainly, it's adult without being overly coarse and dirty. Maomao is an enjoyable MC, she has the right amount of plot in her favour. She's not too beautiful. She's got connections in some places but not others. She's incredibly smart and composed, yet she has a ways to go like her adopted father pointed out.

Oh and the way the author draws ladies 10/10.

Chap 44.2 - 45 Entertaining as usual, some cute and funny moments, Maomao is as sharp as usual and there is a new mystery for her to solve.

Its cute to see Jinshi caring , and those facial expressions seriously i love the dynamism between those two, and I really ship them hard !
