GIFTS LIST

Brewster's Gift "Drink it hot or give it up." (Hot Potato)

The Hot Potato explodes at the end of a day designated by the host before the start of the game, killing the player holding it. The holder of the Hot Potato doesn't know when it will explode, but he can pass it to another player at night, separately from any night ability he has. This passing can't be blocked. If the holder gets killed, the Potato explodes killing both the holder and the killer; if the holder is lynched, the Potato [dies with him].

Kicks' Gift "You never know how things might turn out." (single-use Bar Keeper redirect)

One player ends up being the drunkest and uses his night action on a random player.

CJ's Gift "A night cruise is a good way to catch night fish." (single-use Mafia Detective)

The Mafia Detective has the ability to investigate one player per Night and learn the player's Role. Only he is told the role of his target via PM. Whenever the Mafia Detective's investigation ability is performed, he cannot be chosen to go for a kill on the same night.

Wisp's Gift "Tah-Dahh!" (this player's votes are worded as "Ho ho ho" during the next day)

Jingle's Gift "Isn't this the best time of the year, kid?" Mandatory 5th Gift

Now first lemme thank @Erinyes for her massive participation in the game. At first, I got the November slot to host alone, and she asked me to join and I'm so happy she did! She's not only a very curious and interested person so we had a very nice and easy time discussing our ideas, but she also has the strength and endurance of a lion... I was often dead while we were hosting, but Erinchi followed everything and kept the game organized. She barely slept @.@ And that's a testimony I really needed to share with you all, 'cause her dedication and calm deserve lots of appreciation.

Also thanks @Hardy and @Vandred for double-checking the game mech (and in Poop's case, the comp as well) and giving us your honest thoughts, so we could try to present a game that would be fair and entertaining to people.

And finally, even tho some other points were addressed already, I'd like to thank all the players, from the heart. I know this game was too soon because of my availability due to local holidays, and I know you guys were tired - which for sure didn't improve during this time lol. So I really need to commend you all, because you guys were either putting in a lot of time and effort inside the game, analyzing and discussing nonstop, or in the deadpad - you guys also got no rest. As hosts, that's the biggest kind of feedback we could get: to have you guys really onboard. Some moves were questionable, but no one can't say any of those teams weren't trying... it's only natural that drained people will make some mistakes, so to me that's another sign of the praise you guys deserve.

Quick comments about the game that I've mentioned in the deadpad already: in general, the idea with the mech was to add a simple new function (and we tried to map beforehand the main game new considerations we'd need to have it in place) but that could allow a new set of strategical moves to be exploited - now I would reconsider the priority we used since we realize it would have been more adherent to people's preference. The game also had 2 Traitors 'cause Pirate is a VERY weak mafia that can suicide and lose the ability to kill later on, so we wanted to give them better odds (lemme say it one more time in here that the notion that means town had 2 extra people to lynch is wrong, first because town had 2 killing tools in the Prosecutor and the Banshee, and second because they don't need to eliminate unrecruited traitors to win). It had 2 Psys 'cause even tho we wanted mafia to have better chances to recruit, that didn't mean we wanted them to recruit BOTH, so town had more chances to find at least one on the other hand (even if one role would get erased eventually), and at the same time the role could cause some confusion that mafia could exploit. The Mortician came in place to trace stuff like Santa and fake claims/transfers regarding any role/action that got "buried" - imo it's more effective than the SM because it can target antitown and spot unknown stuff that could still be in-game; it was a late game resource that had good chances of being effective with the role transfer mech. The Necromancer was also in there for its recycling capabilities since we'd have roles being lost, and in this setup it would be less OP than it usually is, since his options would still be reduced. The Santa was there for extra fun, imo, since the role could still be used even if the OG player and their wincon was gone: two gifts - that we expected to be the last ones - were clear signs that there was a Santa in-game in case it would fly by too successfully - and even that was just to cause some ruckus since the last gift allowed the game to go on after Santa would win - which to me it's a needed measure so we won't have sudden major frustration with an unexpected game end (I do understand why the game usually has to end when Santa is in it, so people don't ignore the role, but in this case we saw an opportunity to play around that and fix the issue regarding that); Santa's other gifts were there to provide some extra spice but unfortunately, as you can see in the night actions, I made a mistake while processing GB's action with the Hot Potato. GB got blocked by Evil when he tried to pass it to James and I overlooked it that the passing can't be blocked. It would have been simple to fix it during the day by PMing the both of them if Bran didn't spy on GB and, coincidentally, Sam hadn't claimed the exact same action and outcome. After discussing with some people, we reached the conclusion that the attitude that would cause the least interference and damage to a bigger number of players would be to just remove the Hot Potato from the game and inform that to GB, which is what we did.

GG mafia, you fought the long battle and won! GG town, it's never easy to be on the more clueless side, trying to put pieces together. GG Santa cause Santa is always fun~

Your rant was also very out of place since the night lasted for what... 14h? It's not the team's fault you didn't show up.

I figured that if I were to use you as target people would not expect you to be Mafia. And nobody picked on you that day because they read it correctly.

As for the game, it was fun. Got a quick left-right on Gry and then a pile-on with Shad, Evil and Lambu. I figured I'd be cool to go on now that my traitor role was gone aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then came Baka who found me the exact same night I got recruited. XD
And for some reason I somehow didn't died the whole game after being found out on day 2. XD
I have no idea why or how. I guess my puppy eyes must be magical.^^

@Baka Taichou Why did you give me your psy role? That move didn't made much sense to me and confused town as well since nobody came up to counter my claim so my results, while lies, were still out there in the minds of townies.

@Evil3ye Our love story was legendary. XD
If Lawl had just went all the way with his accusation to his kill ability then this game could have ended a bit earlier, most likely.

@Copy Panda I can't believe that we actually pulled that off. I was so sure I would die next day and then you would die the following day.

@MadNat Sorry for us blocking you the whole game but as det you could prove both town and mafia with your results whereas spy can only prove active roles and psy if somebody got a 2nd role, so you had to be our top priority to stay somehow hidden. Or just plain in the open like I did whole game. I hope you don't take this game's experience too much to heart and give us a shot in a future match.

Ok so, game mechanics, simple, blame it only on myself for having been so confused about them (for thinking mafia roles can't use town roles and vice versa, so the passing, I thought, would just cripple the player you passed it to), entertaining, infuriating, but overall, just like the previous game, they got me invested in the game to the point where I followed closely till the end, which I rarely do. So, yes I both hate and love them, and would like to play similar mechanic again. So, big thank you to the hosts @Farfalla @Erinyes ! You girls have been wonderful and sweet hosts, very nice and helpful even when I asked stupid questions and that is a big part in a MG for me, as it contributes a lot to my enjoyment of the game. And as a closing note on the game, the theme, learned about a new game, discovered a new character to add to my list of fandoms (and hopefully draw one day, when I get out of this crippling fear of picking drawing back up), characters are cute, and I might just try the game out

And after looking at the night actions, @SirSamuel016 why did you go for me to investigate on N1 out of all the players?
I guess I wasn't that wrong in revealing my role so early, since I was already investigated N1, but still, since they recruited James N1 as well, I should have shut up and investigated him again at a later night, since I also had jinx on my list after evil, would have gotten both traitors and then just checked back next nights to see if they still had those roles in the case they were still alive and then reveal. But that's also a double edge sword since Holt also had psychiatrist and might have contested my claim, and we might have both been lynched cuz after the first flipped psych then the next thought would be "ah so it's the other one that was lying".
On that note, having 2 psychiatrists in the game for just 2 traitors was a bit much in my books, it only caused confusion and even tho @Holt played impeccably, it still led to confusion and chaos since "why would there be 2 psychs for just 2 traitors".



Now onto the actual game thoughts.

I'll start off with my gameplay and perspective. D1 for me was extremely enjoyable, I got to read many players and to observe interactions and get suspects, people weren't that stressed yet.

My list of suspects D1-D2 consisted of quite a few people, so it was obvious that not all were scum, but I'll list below why:


@James Rye - mostly because of his obsession over the lovers subject, asking lots of questions, creating scenarios, and that was already sus to me, then he proceeded to slowly shift those observations from the lovers to traitor, and that raised a big flag to me because to me it showed that he was fishing for info about traitor (for example he was saying sth about lovers not appearing as "guilty" in town investigators and after that he said sth around the lines of "oh no that means traitor doesn't either" and that stuck to me). Sadly I moved my thoughts away from traitor and considered the lover more because of last game trauma, influenced by what people were saying about lovers, and the fact that he pressed so much on the lover topic and just subtly mentioned the traitor, so that held more weight in my mind.
So, me being the psychiatrist that I was, ofc that led to me finding my first N1 action, and after getting the result that I got, it was extremely satisfying, because I rarely have great targets from D1 for the role that I receive. So, that made me a bit eager to reveal the next day, hence me pressing on James D2 despite everyone telling me James is in the clear, he'd never go so hard on GRY D1 if he was mafia etc etc, those were also reasons that influenced my revealing because I was itching to prove those statements wrong XD.
@GrySun - for same reasons as I stated in game and that others stated plus salt and trauma from previous game, I'm sorry, I tried to not let it get to me, but deep down, it was there. Props to you for giving Strongman to Lambu (also loved Lambu's reaction when he received the notification XD)
@Copy Panda - don't remember everything cuz I didn't add details to my notes just listed his name, but first he was too under the radar, even when busy, as town, I remember him trying to at least keep up with the thread and then post a few extremely long posts with his analysis, he did that this game too, but in later days, then it was his night action claim, saying he'd go for GB or mby Lambu, which, as a pirate, is totally fine, but in my books, you wait to read the people a bit more before throwing yourself at a possible target, I would personally want to be able to contribute to the game fist by reading ppl and discussing than risk killing myself N1. Also, him listing GB as trusted D2 (then, D3 as sus) AND saying that he switched his target to Shad and stole his role with pirate WITHOUT MENTIONING during the day phase that he changed his target, which makes perfect sense since James pirated Shad N1 before being recruited and he told them in the mafia pad, so Panda switched to Shad to keep the pirate claim alive and get himself confirmed since Shad wouldn't be able to use his role, but that was flawed because it wouldn't make sense for a town pirate to change target without mentioning it publicly so that town knows if he dies, his target is scum. Now I'm not sure his Shad steal reveal was done when I was alive or dead, but since I followed the game like I was still in it, that was when it became clear that he was scum.
@Crescent Jinx - was very under the radar D1, not contributing to the discussion, her first comment D2 was that she was happy she was alive even though Lambu and others would have been far bigger targets. At some point she replied to Sam's question about who she suspects, with "who do you", like she was trying to deflect a lot (personally if I was her, considering Sam was mafia, I'd have casually listed the whole mafia team as a hint to get recruited XD, and then some sussy townies to not put too much pressure on the actual team ¬I don't think that's not allowed no? if it is pls tell me so I don't do this if i'm ever traitor again xD¬ but I do remember my first game when I came back after a decade long hiatus, I was spy traitor, so what I did was attack every member of the mafia team, pressed them so hard that they eventually decided to kill me, and remember even now in the pad they were like "I hope to god she's traitor" which was funny). Her comments seemed to lack depth, avoiding the main topics, talking around the bush, asking Madnat about panda, that seemed sus to me because MadNat is a new player, while you'd want the new player to be engaged and feel included, you normally go ask these things to veteran players, no? Maybe that's just me xD. Another thing I wrote in my notes was sth I forgot, but I guess I was right in seeing that as sus, as now it makes a lot of sense, when Shad pointed out that Gry might give strongman to a townie or sth, she replied to him asking him why would Gry give strongman to a townie instead of his team (because at the time I thought, "why would Gry give strongman to a mafia if mafia had good roles, it'd make sense to give it to a town to render a possible good role useless ¬which he did¬ and with Lambu pressing on the idea that he doesn't need protection, ended up being true). Last note, the way she was typing, the whole love related comments reinforced the lovers scenario in my brain, and I thought she's James' lover, thought which dissipated when I got my N2 result that James didn't have secondary anymore, and I was dead. But I was still convinced she was scum at least.

@SirSamuel016 - didn't have much to go on Sam in the first few days, but he seemed off, the strongest feeling came from the fact that out of all the 17 players on D2, he was the only one who listed me as sus to him, based off the fact that my playstyle was too calm and composed (even though this was already my third game since I came back and was just as calm and composed in the previous 2, and not taking into account that my erratic behavior in the past was caused by my severe depressions and mental breakdowns back then, which were talked about and expressed multiple times even outside of mafia games, very much public knowledge, so I imagined that he'd be aware of that and not let it influence his thoughts about who and how I am presently). As the game moved on after my death, didn't sus him for a while, but then he did do some sus things but I forgot, would have to go back and read to remember and I'm lazy.

Now for the players who I sussed that weren't mafia (and I apologize for reading you guys wrong while i was alive, and hope that it slowly becoming obv that you weren't when spectating from heaven will make up for it):

@digitaldude - just like with Panda, didn't write down in my notes only listed his name as sus, but I guess it was mostly because he wasn't contributing, he was commenting things that were already mentioned or comment completely off topic, the reason I didn't press much on him was because I remembered when he was detective he had a similar playstyle and when he came out, he came out with good results that revealed scum, but I couldn't help not sus him (nor troll him, which again I apologize, it really wasn't meant to sound as a threat XD, not like I could actually do anything to you xD ¬this reminds me of when I met Shad, he told me he was afraid to come meet me cuz I might beat him up haha, oh boy¬). What I'll say to you DD, is that I think you can be a great player and bring a lot of value to games, if you'd read the goddamn thread (cuz I saw a comment where you confirmed you weren't reading this game) and participate more with theories and ongoing topics, give your two cents, even when it seems that people aren't reading them (because from my experience at some point I didn't want to contribute anymore, because it felt that nobody cared to read my posts), but even if some really aren't reading, there will always be the others who are, and if you die in game, people always look back on the things you said. Hope to see you more active in the future (and not with AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

@Asako - the one biggest regret I had, I'm sorry Asachii! I won't press on bringing up why I decided to go with your lynch, because I know it was stressful for you in game and overly discussed in heaven, and I do see your point, I'm just sad I didn't pick up on it sooner. (even tho' if you didn't die by lynch and would have died during N2, that would have been beneficial to us cuz I would have been able to give my N2 result on James the next day and mby help press on getting him lynched (and not make it till the fkn end cuz ppl were obsessed with lovers xD). But yea, I'm in if you still wanna open the "No reveal for the entire game" club

@GB - early on I was sus of him for similar reasons to Jinx and DD, he was playing very under the radar, he wasn't contributing to discussions, the random Jinx vote exchange (since I also sused Jinx), not voting for Gry D1 or expressing him being sus of Gry in any way. Then next day, joining marm on "don't kill asako" "don't understand how you see Asako as sus" when we were all convinced about asako being sus, but then he said something that I didn't realize at that moment (well I guess I did since I wrote it in my notes), he voted for Sam D2 mentioning that he was the last Gry voter (probably to save face and gain a bit of cred for the following days) and didn't bother to guess a role (though at that moment, I was like "uh yea, but neither did you for the person you voted"). When he died and killed Sam, I thought it was because he saw James' comment where he revealed Sam as a teammate, but now post game, I can see that he was really onto him, he marked him, he pointed out in game the part about Sam's last vote, he was rly on spot, not to mention he also marked marma and was gonna mark James but figured he'd die anyway. That's God tier reading skills in my books, so I commend you for it GB, very well played! And sorry I sused you


Now after my death, I had a moment (longer moment) where I started doubting @Evil3ye and @Shad being town, some things they were saying were so not logical that it infuriated me, but then them going at each other just made me think "clueless townies at each others' throats" which was sth me and Evil did in the past, BUT THEEEENN Shad sniping Evil oh my lord!!!! I was soooooooooo pissed off at you @Shad, then your interactions with MadNat very low bar Shad, you're an experienced player now, that's not how you should be talking to a junior player. Anyway, won't go much into detail here as I'm sure it's been discussed and I'm sure you guys realized them on your own. I did like some of your reads (both of you) were so on point with Sam and Panda, but then you both ruined it with going at each other's throats xD
@Holt coming out as psych kinda made me think he's mafia for a bit, didn't believe the 2 psychs for just 2 traitors and at that point for us in the deadpad it was already clear there were no lovers I think. Plus him being so silent most of the previous days didn't help my read on him, but as I read on after his claim it slowly made sense that he's town, argumented very well, was very on spot with a lot of things, overall very well played, I'm sorry you had to endure that endgame Holt, and being lynched on your b-day xD. Hope that besides that unfortunate game end, you had a nice day tho!

Ugh there are other players I didn't mention, but this post has become a novel, I doubt anyone will read the whole thing xD, so I'll just close with a VERY WP @Lady pompom !

We had an overall great start both on town side and mafia side. People chose actions well during the first night and the game was very entertaining despite the chaos and toxicity of some of us xD

@Copy Panda - don't remember everything cuz I didn't add details to my notes just listed his name, but first he was too under the radar, even when busy, as town, I remember him trying to at least keep up with the thread and then post a few extremely long posts with his analysis, he did that this game too, but in later days, then it was his night action claim, saying he'd go for GB or mby Lambu, which, as a pirate, is totally fine, but in my books, you wait to read the people a bit more before throwing yourself at a possible target, I would personally want to be able to contribute to the game fist by reading ppl and discussing than risk killing myself N1. Also, him listing GB as trusted D2 (then, D3 as sus) AND saying that he switched his target to Shad and stole his role with pirate WITHOUT MENTIONING during the day phase that he changed his target, which makes perfect sense since James pirated Shad N1 before being recruited and he told them in the mafia pad, so Panda switched to Shad to keep the pirate claim alive and get himself confirmed since Shad wouldn't be able to use his role, but that was flawed because it wouldn't make sense for a town pirate to change target without mentioning it publicly so that town knows if he dies, his target is scum. Now I'm not sure his Shad steal reveal was done when I was alive or dead, but since I followed the game like I was still in it, that was when it became clear that he was scum.
@Crescent Jinx - was very under the radar D1, not contributing to the discussion, her first comment D2 was that she was happy she was alive even though Lambu and others would have been far bigger targets. At some point she replied to Sam's question about who she suspects, with "who do you", like she was trying to deflect a lot (personally if I was her, considering Sam was mafia, I'd have casually listed the whole mafia team as a hint to get recruited XD, and then some sussy townies to not put too much pressure on the actual team ¬I don't think that's not allowed no? if it is pls tell me so I don't do this if i'm ever traitor again xD¬ but I do remember my first game when I came back after a decade long hiatus, I was spy traitor, so what I did was attack every member of the mafia team, pressed them so hard that they eventually decided to kill me, and remember even now in the pad they were like "I hope to god she's traitor" which was funny). Her comments seemed to lack depth, avoiding the main topics, talking around the bush, asking Madnat about panda, that seemed sus to me because MadNat is a new player, while you'd want the new player to be engaged and feel included, you normally go ask these things to veteran players, no? Maybe that's just me xD. Another thing I wrote in my notes was sth I forgot, but I guess I was right in seeing that as sus, as now it makes a lot of sense, when Shad pointed out that Gry might give strongman to a townie or sth, she replied to him asking him why would Gry give strongman to a townie instead of his team (because at the time I thought, "why would Gry give strongman to a mafia if mafia had good roles, it'd make sense to give it to a town to render a possible good role useless ¬which he did¬ and with Lambu pressing on the idea that he doesn't need protection, ended up being true). Last note, the way she was typing, the whole love related comments reinforced the lovers scenario in my brain, and I thought she's James' lover, thought which dissipated when I got my N2 result that James didn't have secondary anymore, and I was dead. But I was still convinced she was scum at least.

@SirSamuel016 - didn't have much to go on Sam in the first few days, but he seemed off, the strongest feeling came from the fact that out of all the 17 players on D2, he was the only one who listed me as sus to him, based off the fact that my playstyle was too calm and composed (even though this was already my third game since I came back and was just as calm and composed in the previous 2, and not taking into account that my erratic behavior in the past was caused by my severe depressions and mental breakdowns back then, which were talked about and expressed multiple times even outside of mafia games, very much public knowledge, so I imagined that he'd be aware of that and not let it influence his thoughts about who and how I am presently). As the game moved on after my death, didn't sus him for a while, but then he did do some sus things but I forgot, would have to go back and read to remember and I'm lazy.

Now for the players who I sussed that weren't mafia (and I apologize for reading you guys wrong while i was alive, and hope that it slowly becoming obv that you weren't when spectating from heaven will make up for it):

@digitaldude - just like with Panda, didn't write down in my notes only listed his name as sus, but I guess it was mostly because he wasn't contributing, he was commenting things that were already mentioned or comment completely off topic, the reason I didn't press much on him was because I remembered when he was detective he had a similar playstyle and when he came out, he came out with good results that revealed scum, but I couldn't help not sus him (nor troll him, which again I apologize, it really wasn't meant to sound as a threat XD, not like I could actually do anything to you xD ¬this reminds me of when I met Shad, he told me he was afraid to come meet me cuz I might beat him up haha, oh boy¬). What I'll say to you DD, is that I think you can be a great player and bring a lot of value to games, if you'd read the goddamn thread (cuz I saw a comment where you confirmed you weren't reading this game) and participate more with theories and ongoing topics, give your two cents, even when it seems that people aren't reading them (because from my experience at some point I didn't want to contribute anymore, because it felt that nobody cared to read my posts), but even if some really aren't reading, there will always be the others who are, and if you die in game, people always look back on the things you said. Hope to see you more active in the future (and not with AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

@Asako - the one biggest regret I had, I'm sorry Asachii! I won't press on bringing up why I decided to go with your lynch, because I know it was stressful for you in game and overly discussed in heaven, and I do see your point, I'm just sad I didn't pick up on it sooner. (even tho' if you didn't die by lynch and would have died during N2, that would have been beneficial to us cuz I would have been able to give my N2 result on James the next day and mby help press on getting him lynched (and not make it till the fkn end cuz ppl were obsessed with lovers xD). But yea, I'm in if you still wanna open the "No reveal for the entire game" club

@GB - early on I was sus of him for similar reasons to Jinx and DD, he was playing very under the radar, he wasn't contributing to discussions, the random Jinx vote exchange (since I also sused Jinx), not voting for Gry D1 or expressing him being sus of Gry in any way. Then next day, joining marm on "don't kill asako" "don't understand how you see Asako as sus" when we were all convinced about asako being sus, but then he said something that I didn't realize at that moment (well I guess I did since I wrote it in my notes), he voted for Sam D2 mentioning that he was the last Gry voter (probably to save face and gain a bit of cred for the following days) and didn't bother to guess a role (though at that moment, I was like "uh yea, but neither did you for the person you voted"). When he died and killed Sam, I thought it was because he saw James' comment where he revealed Sam as a teammate, but now post game, I can see that he was really onto him, he marked him, he pointed out in game the part about Sam's last vote, he was rly on spot, not to mention he also marked marma and was gonna mark James but figured he'd die anyway. That's God tier reading skills in my books, so I commend you for it GB, very well played! And sorry I sused you


Now after my death, I had a moment (longer moment) where I started doubting @Evil3ye and @Shad being town, some things they were saying were so not logical that it infuriated me, but then them going at each other just made me think "clueless townies at each others' throats" which was sth me and Evil did in the past, BUT THEEEENN Shad sniping Evil oh my lord!!!! I was soooooooooo pissed off at you @Shad, then your interactions with MadNat very low bar Shad, you're an experienced player now, that's not how you should be talking to a junior player. Anyway, won't go much into detail here as I'm sure it's been discussed and I'm sure you guys realized them on your own. I did like some of your reads (both of you) were so on point with Sam and Panda, but then you both ruined it with going at each other's throats xD
@Holt coming out as psych kinda made me think he's mafia for a bit, didn't believe the 2 psychs for just 2 traitors and at that point for us in the deadpad it was already clear there were no lovers I think. Plus him being so silent most of the previous days didn't help my read on him, but as I read on after his claim it slowly made sense that he's town, argumented very well, was very on spot with a lot of things, overall very well played, I'm sorry you had to endure that endgame Holt, and being lynched on your b-day xD. Hope that besides that unfortunate game end, you had a nice day tho!

Ugh there are other players I didn't mention, but this post has become a novel, I doubt anyone will read the whole thing xD, so I'll just close with a VERY WP @Lady pompom !

We had an overall great start both on town side and mafia side. People chose actions well during the first night and the game was very entertaining despite the chaos and toxicity of some of us xD
