Night Actions

Aha here are the spicy night actions. Past Nacho's death, the DC didn't have much to vote on... So it was dissolved. Also, empty spaces may indicate that player didn't PM for whatever reason

I was going to do an elaborate player-by-player review like last time, but this time noona did it, and hers were pretty good so I'll stick to those

Compared to the previous burning building mechanic, I think noona and I pretty easily settled on the form of this idea, stamping out technicalities along the way. I thought the DC mechanic was pretty interesting, though perhaps not all effects were equally balanced (nor did all effects provide the DC with the same amount of powers). There is probably some more interesting concepts in this post-death corner to explore (coming to a panda game close to you). Coming up with all the effects was a little tricky but overall they produced a couple of interesting gamer moments. Hmm, I didn't expect a mafia to die to the N1 effect, I didn't think Jesus and day skip would be picked so quickly and I didn't expect horoscoping to be such hard work The tellers have it tough.

We wanted the game to have a mystical kind of atmosphere? The colours, avi's and text hopefully all contributed to that. Though usually I'm not necessarily fond of RNG, given the theme it seemed acceptable. We had to RNG onto a vote so that a majority of townies couldn't disregard a minority mafo. There was a rubberband kind of mechanic to a three-headed council, as the team that was getting bodied could attempt to control the course of the constellations. Introducing lovers into the game at a later point proved an interesting stimulant, in that even trusted players could get burnt. Inactive or unwilling players could refrain from engaging with the mechanic heavily. Living players didn't necessarily have to learn all the effects while they were playing; they could focus on the game and look up a list of more invested players after kicking the bucket.

I liked random-kuns debut. He helped a lot with Rin-chan-campaigning and has a penchant for omo'ing. It's a smart bot, for sure. It did its best. Not a lot to say about it, other than that I'm disappointed in the players who had random-kun RNG onto someone to vote for LOL, very painful. Its final deciding coin toss turned out to be pretty relevant. Apparently, random-kun has a penchant for multiples of 2 but will roll onto uneven numbers if you praise or intimidate it. Perhaps it keeps track of how everyone is treating it . I think in these few cute paragraphs I've surmised most of my immediately relevant thoughts. Hopefully, less panda game shenanigans next time

The MH specific game rules will be explained below. If you would like to play, please announce your participation in the "Mafia Game Discussion" Thread. This thread is strictly for playing the game. Thank you.

Players will be secretly assigned two roles. One group will play the "Mafia" role; the other group will play the "townspeople" role. The townspeople will not know who other townspeople or Mafia members are. However the Mafia members will know who is a Mafia member and who isn't.

During the day phase, all of the players debate the identities of the Mafia members and at the end each person will vote to eliminate a suspect. This is carried out in the "game thread". In the game's "night" phase the Mafia will discuss through PM’s (which will be sent to the host when it’s over) on who they should kill. They will then send the unlucky person’s name onto to the host. Play will then continue until all of the Mafia have been eliminated, or until the Mafia reaches the same number as the townspeople.

A typical game will start with a minimum of 7 players, 5 Townspeople and 2 Mafia members. The members that will be Mafia and Townspeople will be chosen through a random list generator . Whereby the participating player’s names will be put in and after the randomisation the Mafia roles will go to the names at the top of the list. This is to avoid butthurt and favouritism accusations. :'[

Lastly, the numbers of Mafia Members depends on the number of participants! (the numbers are indicative)

7 - 10 = 2 Mafias
11 - 13 = 3 Mafias
14 - 17 = 4 Mafias
18 - 20 = 5 Mafias
21 - 24 = 6 Mafias
etc.

Game Phases

PHASE 1: DAY
This is where you discuss/argue about who is and isn't mafia. As soon as the day phase starts, you are allowed to vote. The day phase will take place strictly inside the “game” thread. Any discussions regarding the day phase outside the thread will be dealt with severely.
VOTE KILL [user]
This will be the manner in which you vote. Make sure it is clearly displayed in your post though caps/coloured or bold font.

You will be only allowed 1 vote change per phase. So use your vote wisely. Day phase will last about 24 hours, or until the host gets a majority on votes for one person (majority = half +1)
PHASE 2: NIGHT
The host closes the game thread during the night phases.
There should be no discussion about the game during the night phase, regardless of the player being still in the game or already out.

During the night phase, the mafia members will collaborate and choose who they want to kill. They will not do this in the thread, but via PM's with each other/other alternative communication channels approved by the host, such as piratepad.

At the beginning of the game the Mafia members will be informed of the other members. The Mastermind (Boss) must PM the host telling them their choice for the night's murder and the murderer from his team. They should also pm the PM discussions separately. There can only be one murder in the night phase therefore the mafia members must come to an agreement.

If the Mafia don't send in their night kill before the night phase ends, then their action will not be performed. The Mafia can also send in their night actions during the previous day phase, if they think they will not be online during the coming night.

The time for the Night phases are set by the host.

ACTIVITY RULES

Be active in every day phase and post at least three times. It's a Minor Violation if you don't do that and will result in Penalty Vote(s)/Hostkill and ban from future games (Hall of Shame). If you are going to miss out a period of time due to real life events make sure to inform the host, who is going to judge each situation individually and decide whether or not taking the player out of the game is necessary.
Place at least one vote every day phase. It's a Minor Violation if you forget to place a vote and will result in Penalty Vote(s)/Hostkill and ban from future games (Hall of Shame).
Don't post more than 100 times per day phase. This is to reduce spam and the volume of posts per game. Nobody has time to go through hundreds of one liner posts with the same content over and over again (Imperium Copyright Rule). If you hit the volume restriction, it's a Minor Violation you will get a Penality Vote per 10 additional posts you make.
No talking during Night Phases, except for some roles that it is explicitly allowed and encouraged to. The Night phases are only to send in Night Actions. The scale of punishment for players who are caught discussing game content in the night may vary from Minor Violation to instand Hostkill, depending on the seriousness of the comment and/or warnings given before. NEW
Dead people can't talk. So don't post once your character is dead; do not help others once you are dead. You can however, lurk the thread. If you post regardlessly, you will be banned from future games (Hall of Shame).

OUTER THREAD RULES

Absolutely DO NOT discuss the game outside of the game thread (unless you are Mafia members discussing it with other mafia through pms/piratepad). This is so that people do not reveal their roles and ruin the game. Players violating this rule will be instantly hostkilled and banned from future games (Hall of Shame).
Do not directly comment on the current game, once you are dead. This is so you don't influence the players that are still playing. Violator of this rule will be banned from future games (Hall of Shame).

OTHER GAME RULES

You are not allowed to post any screenshots, PMs or anything similar that can reveal your role, or the role of others, neither fake host PMs. If you do, you will be hostkilled and banned from future games (Hall of Shame).
You are not allowed to pretend being a Daytime Vigilant, Cowboy, or other roles, that have Day Commands. It's a Minor Violation if you do that regardlessly.
You are not allowed to ignore directions sent in to you by the host, for example a mandatory vote change by the Politician. It's a Minor Violation if you fail to respond accordingly. NEW
You are not allowed to majorly edit the content of your posts, nor delete any of your own or someone else's post without the Host's approval. If you do, you may get a Minor Violation punishment or hostkilled immediately and banned from future games (Hall of Shame).

RULE BREAKING, PUNISHMENT & HALL OF SHAME

Minor Violations are "small rules violations", which do not result in a hostkill instantly, but are sanctioned with Penalty Votes first. For the first Minor Violation you get 1 Penalty Vote, for the second you get 3 Penalty Votes and the third gets you hostkilled. Three Minor Violation of any kind will lead to a hostkill. NEW
If you disobey the roles above that are resulting with you being host killed and/or banned from future games, you will get registered in the Hall of Shame.
One violation bans you from the upcoming game.
A second violation of the same kind will ban you from the next three game.
A third violation and you are out from all upcoming games.
No amnesty or prescription until further notice.

MH Specific Hosting Regulations

DAY PHASES & VOTINGS

Each active player has to vote during a day phase. Each player has the chance to change his vote once.
A day phase can be ended earlier, if and only if one player has collected more than a half+1 of the second votes ("locked votes") of all players and each player has voted at least once (Absolute Majority Voting).
If by the end of the the regular time of the day phase two or more players have the same amount of votes, the second votes ("locked votes") are decisive. The player with the most locked votes is being lynched.
If one or more players have the same amount of votes and locked votes, each player is getting the possibility to change his vote one more time. The regular day phase is being expanded for the means of further discussions.
If the voting result is the same by the end of the expanded day phase, both players are being lynched.

NIGHT PHASES & ACTIONS

During the night phase each player that has a role with a night action may send it in to the host via PM.
The player may or may not make use of his action. If the player misses the deadline and does not submit his action within the given time, it is seen as not used action. It is possible, however, to submit it before the start of the night, if the player already knows he has no time to do it later.
The night actions are listed in Priority groups. The higher the priority ranking, the more likely it is that the night action is being executed successfully. First actions to be performed are those from P1, then P2 and ending with P3.
If two night action roles from the same priority group target the same player at night a coin flip will decide which night action is executed first.

Mechanics️

The Dead Council

This game, the stars and skies are ruled by the Signs
Signs are voted for by the Dead Council during the phase
The hosts randomize onto one of their votes (it's not majority rule)
The recent most three (3) deaths in-game will inhabit the Dead Council, evicting the longest sitting members first
The Sign lasts for one (1) Day or Night, during which the sitting Council votes for the next Sign again
If there's an effect during this Sign, the DC votes for those as well, with the effect occurring at the end of the phase
Once a Sign has been picked, it cannot be picked again

The Signs

(Yellow text happens automatically, or throughout the day. White text is voted for and/or happens towards the end)​

Aries, the Dominant ​	The DC will vote for one (1) player among the bottom five (5) posters to die. This sign is automatically chosen after D1 and the kill cannot be blocked. ​
Taurus, the Glutton ​	If this Sign is voted for, the DC will vote for one (1) player who will hold the Hot Potato. However, they don't know when the Potato explodes. The bomb is pre-set and will explode ASAP if given to someone after this time!​
Gemini, the Two-Sided ​	If this Sign is voted for, during the Day, the top-two voted players die (instead of just the top-lynched player). If this Sign is chosen at night, nothing happens.​
Cancer, the Protector ​	If this Sign is voted for, the DC will vote for one (1) player who cannot die during this Sign (includes lynches). It is unknown to all living players, including the selected player, who this is. If this player is chosen to be lynched, the lynch fails.​
Leo, the Strong ​	If this Sign is voted for, the Top Poster gains a "Bomb" for a secondary role so long this Sign rules the sky.​
Virgo, the Practical ​	If this Sign is voted for, the DC will each vote for four (4) players who become the only eligible players to die so long this Sign rules the sky. This covers both lynching (day effect) or killing (night effect). They cannot be targeted by covering abilities (Doc, BG, PO, etc.). At the start of the phase, the hosts announce the chosen players. Killing actions of any sort on other players fail.​
Libra, the Charming ​	If this Sign is voted for, a pair of Lovers will be introduced into the game. The DC won't be informed of who became the Lovers.​
Scorpio, the Revenger ​	If this Sign is voted for, every DC member can place a restless spirit-type vote at the end of the day. However, the link to the afterlife is not strong enough for them to leave a message of any kind. If this Sign is chosen at night, nothing happens.​
Sagittarius, the Debonair ​	If this Sign is voted for, the most targeted surviving player(s) during the previous night phase is informed of how many players targeted them (no roles or names are revealed to them, however).​
Capricorn, the Arduous ​	If this Sign is voted for, the DC can each vote for one living player to trade their past role with. The living player's role is swapped with the role of the DC member. Only the chosen player is informed of this. This swap is permanent and cannot be rejected. Allegiance is not changed.​
Aquarius, the Spicy ​	If this Sign is voted for, the phase is skipped.​
Pisces, the All-Seeing ​	If this Sign is voted for, the DC will vote for one (1) player among the bottom five (5) posters to swap places with themselves (the selected player dies as ????).​

You enter a mysterious place. A place not governed by laws of physics, logic and causality. Rather, it's a mystical place where the position of the stars rule bliss, misfortune and everything in between. You notice your name is woven into the tapestry of the stars. You, too, traveller, are a the mercy of the retrograde. In order to find yourself, you sit yourself down in a quiet spot and look up to the sky. The stars will be moving soon. Tonight, the sky seems clear. Come the next few days, who knows what the constellations will have in store for you?

I think this is an interesting observation.

I said in my previous post that maybe I'm gonna vote for a poster with many posts, for the arbitrary reason that I don't like having to read so many pages hahah. So I'm gonna do that for now.

My reasoning for picking gajeel was basically, who do i actually suspect but not yet in the lynch post type of thoughts

I think I'll put my vote down for Tatsumaki. To me he feels a bit off though it could be that he hasn't said much so far. Saying that his role is active and could have an "impact" due the mechanics feels like a strange hint to me. Yeah, active is obvious, but how any role of ours would gain an impact due the signs chosen by the Death Council is beyond me. Maybe Bomb defuser due the extra bomb sign but that is a bit of a stretch. His posts are all short, just saying he is back-reading in half of them and the one post that stands out to me is when he is sorry for himself that he will be definitely in the bottom 5 posters which would be a waste of his role though we got a sign that would allow him to switch his role with one of us if he happened to die early so it wouldn't go to waste.

My feeling here is that if, mind you if since it's only my guts speaking, if Tatsu is scum, then he got a role that allows him to risk being in the bottom five and hope he gets the 80% survival chance and in the coming day and use this as an argument of saying that he was a townie busy with real life stuff since an actual mafia would totally not risk this if he can't help it.
Like Mafia Member or Mafia Rookie or Unskilled Mafia or Mafia Bomb defuser. Those are the kinda roles I could imagine to be risked by such a role holder from the Mafia since they don't matter as much as other much more important roles and in the case they die, nothing of value, except one Mafia body ofc, is lost while if they get through, which is highly likely due 80% not getting picked to die extra, they got a nice argument for why they couldn't be Mafia or at least not a sane one.

Like if his role is actually a good townie role that would be a waste to lose then why isn't he trying harder to increase his survival chances and shit post/spam like some of us did, heck one or two of us even posted only a single emoji in response to a quote to up their post count for crying out loud, and he writes so little anyway so why not quote this or that guy and gain post counts due responses?

And since Tatsumaki asked for tags if something urgent came up, I feel it's fair to ping him as well. Maybe this will get him more engaged in this thread which has nearly 30 pages and more incoming in the next two hours. So what you think about my reasoning, @Tatsumaki ?

He used a random vote, made some iffy calls (wish-washy about Hardy, made a list of people who basically shouldn't live to day 6). Some of this makes him look more innocent too, I'll admit that. I don't intend to move the vote given I don't have any stronger suspicions, unless something comes up in the next hour.



Others I considered...

SirSamuel - thought he was playing too detached for his 'townie' self. And his exchange with Scary Noona didn't help him. He did have a big day which justifies why I thought he was phoning it in so I'm happy to move on from him.

MArGi - revenge she felt sus about Shad, but didn't think it was enough to move the vote, despite her vote on me being a 'placeholder'. So either MArGi suspects me or she's looking for something more concrete before locking - and I think it's the latter for now so again happy to move on.

GrySun - mainly because I don't comprehend the Juviii vote and more so his confidence in it. This is a strong hunch from him and they can be very important. I'd be more interested if he changes his voting in the future, given his strong feelings.

While he isn't my main suspect in general, from the top 3 is him or Tatsumaki for me. Wasn't a fan of his answers (or lack of them) and I trust shad slightly more. The only thing speaking against Shad for me is his weird hint but I don't think he seemed fake.

Hardy while confrontational (like always) gave me no reason to suspect him highly for now. This weird noble vote seems to me like a trick to get suspicion away from him. For now votekill Shad might change if the role gets revealed.

But how I understand the DC works it will be only one to vote on Night 1, the first lynched guy. If it's a townie it can hit townie, but if it's a mafia, he will take a townie down, which is sucky.

A bit odd that this one sign is the enforced one. It's not hard to avoid being bottom poster d1 at all ("BEAUTIFUL ABYS EVEN THOUGH I'VE SEEN THEM FOR A WEEK NOW!!!") and the % of scum is likely at it lowest... so we are most likely looking at an extra dead townie, probability wise.

The game seems to be designed to end within 6 days, as there is no more mechanics to choose for Day 7. Some zodiacs have additional kills with them so that might not be a too long game. Although lot of designs in games didn't really work out in practise as thought, so lets see.

For my hint, I have a night role, that I never had before.
