Welcome to Manhwa Awards 2014!

Manhwa Awards is back! We welcome you to this annual event in which you can discuss, nominate, and vote for memorable manhwa series, which have made your reading experience enjoyable. This is the thread where you will find important news and information about the system of the awards and anything else about the event. You are also free to share your opinions and feedback about the awards here.

Award Format

The event will consist of two phases: a nomination phase and a voting phase. Between those two phases, there will be three days break for administrative reasons. This year, we host 13 categories for every member to nominate and vote in.

Nomination Phase (January 19th-28th, 2014): The community makes their nominations in the category threads. If a series has already been nominated before, a member is allowed to support that nomination to build up hype and campaign for that nomination.

Break (January 28th-30th, 2014): Administrative reasons, preparation of the next phase.

Voting Phase (January 30th-February 6th, 2014): A poll is created from all nominations. Every member will be able to campaign for specific series and cast vote(s) to support those series.

Nomination Info - "How to Nominate"

You may nominate up to three (3) series in each category. However, during the nomination phase, you can change your nomination if you want to nominate another title.

For the nomination phase to run smoothly and to avoid situations where nominations weren't counted by accident, please state your nominations clearly. It is preferable to highlight the nominated candidate with bolded red text. Example:

I nominate <insert title/character> for <insert category> because <insert reason here>.

Voting Info - "How to Vote"

Once the nomination round is over and the polls are made, the voting round begins. Please keep in mind that a vote is final. Discuss your opinion and think it through before voting. Choose wisely, because we won't change the votes if you reconsider later on.

1. Best Overall Manhwa Series : Noblesse. But on second thought Noblesse fans are no longer active so ToG might win.
2. Best Action/Adventure Series : Noblesse/ToG
3. Best Comedy Series: Gekugi High
4. Best Slice of Life Series : Girls of the Wild's (Even though it hardly fits as a slice of life)
5. Best Mystery/Horror Series
6. Best Artwork : Noblesse/ToG. Though to be honest it would be unfair voting here as the actual good artwork series lacks fanbase... so popular titles would win.
   
7. Best Fight Sequence : The Breaker
8. Best Overall Cast: Noblesse or ToG
9. Best Pairing/Couple: Androsi/Baam or Seira/Shinwoo
10. Best Male Character : Rai. Baam might have some chance
11. Best Female Character: Seira or Androssi
12. Best Antagonist: (Not sure)
13. Most Hated Character : Rachel
14. Best Supporting Character: Frankenstein.

Best Overall Manhwa Series:
Despite being in a weak arc currently, I have no doubt that Tower of God will take this.

Best Action/Adventure Series:
I think the amazing fights of The Breaker series will give Tower of God a run for his money and will win in the end.

Best Mystery/Horror Series & Best Comedy Series:
DICE wins the first, The Gamer the latter, since they both have no competition I suppose.

Best Fight Sequence:
This category will go to the The Breaker series. I'm leaning towards Ju Sang-Sik vs. Shioon. It seems that many users liked that fight. I hated it, but well, opinions differ huh?

Best Overall Cast:
No other series has such a huge quantity of high quality characters like Tower of God.

Best Male Character:
Baam...

Best Female Character:
Androssi, and it would be well deserved. Sadly, Yuri lacks screentime compared to her. Maybe Sera Kang can put up a fight.

Most Hated Character:
Rachel will most likely win here. I would go out on a limb and claim that she would never lose such a category. She simply outclasses everyone in the Manhwa world, she is easily Obito and Madara level. The staff should consider to prohibit her the next time.

Best Supporting Character:
The recent chapter of The Breaker New Waves kinda settled this category in Jae-Kyu Kwon's favor I think. Judging by how many nominations he received after said chapter, I have a hard time believing that someone else could steal the number one spot from him. I'm more surprised that the current chapter gave him that much of a boost. He had similar or much greater moments before. Maybe the users just forgot how awesome he is.

Best Pairing/Couple:
I hope and wish the folks here read what I wrote in the thread and vote for Shioon X So-Chun Hyuk. Just be a little bit humane and charitable! You would make a happy user even happier. So, that's enough campaign.

Barring any ties, yes. This will be the final phase.

And for anybody who is curious about the early voting results, since the polls are hidden, I have to say they are pretty interesting and a lot closer than I would have thought. Only one category has a nominee with what I would consider a commanding lead.

And in case anybody is wondering just what I mean by "Closer than I would have thought". Without giving anything away, last time I checked at least 6 categories are tied; the most impressive of which is a 3 way tie.

The most of the awards that i've guessed won the award haha and although i've not pointed a winner on the "Best antagonist" category, i nominated the winner GMR.

I hadn't read Noblesse when the awards started, but i'm reading now and i can agree with some awards like Frank winning the "Best Supporting" award, he's indeed awesome!
