Oh boy, I've read about this before at some point. Some uneducated and superstitious people have some really fucked up food habits and beliefs. I think they (uneducated people) do believe in some saying which goes something like : "If it's (animal's) back faces the sky, you can eat it". And there's this belief of animals tasting better after you've been cruel to them.
