Mini-Tutorial - Scanning

This is a mini-tutorial for the solo Manga Editor: one who either hasn't (or dosen't want to) joined with a group, but wants to share what they've found with others. These are based on my personal experiences, so there could be better ways... :)

Requirements:
-Scanner
-Manga (or magazine)

1. Find a place to get the spine removed from the manga you'd like to scan. There are stores such as Kinko's or FedEx. Some employees may ask if you'd like to rebind the book, but say no.

Here's what I've scanned -- (RIBON, 2009-03 issue)

Notice the spine has been removed --

A very important check is to fan the pages to make sure none have stuck together. If you scan them, then there could be damage to your scanner or the images will not scan correctly.

An example of stuck pages --

Next, seperate the pages into stacks (either by series, or by color)

Seperating the magazine by colors --

Load up your scanner. Be sure to pay attention to what you're scanning. If a stuck page is going in, quickly unload the following pages so you can delete these images, and rescan.

When you've finished scanning all the pages, check your PC to find these images. Take a final check over the quality. Lastly, you can RAR each seperate series, to make uploading easier.
