Here's little Gon with that frog from the volume 1 cover! That cover dissuaded me from reading HXH years ago I thought it looked ugly and kind of dumb... WELL how tasteless and wrong I was!!

Funny thing about that image: When I learned about Conjuration I thought Gon would be able to summon one at some point based on that picture. Silly me, I did not understood the concept quite well.

I know what you mean. It gives the impression that it's a kiddy story.
But now I know it's just a facade. Now it's one of my favorite volume
covers (my all time favorite is Volume 13. That one is just brilliant.)

I still don't care for Volume 1 back cover where Gon is wearing
overalls I think. It just looks kinda stupid on Ggn is what I think.

I think some people didn't like that the new anime adaption was so bright and kiddy-like in the colors and the characterization at times.. but I think it's fine for now! It'll be all the more contrast as the story progresses and it becomes increasingly apparent how twisted hxh world is

ooh and here's young Killua with (let's pretend, a reasonably sized) Mike!

Yep. I always liked that icon. Speaking of which I need to get myself one.

Agreed. That's one reason I like the bright colors. To me if it started off dark and gloomy and just stayed dark and gloomy...it would be kinda boring.

I'm guessing Mike ate a lot of "Mike Chow" to get to his current size.

Puppy Mike is absolutely adorable! I mentioned it when I reblogged it on tumblr but I love the line art on your Mike, emulates Togashi's ink style a lot.

Thanks!! I definitely followed the way Togashi did dark blacks so that half of Mike's face is kinda obscured

Yesterday I challenged myself with a pixiv expressions meme-- featuring Killua, since I have a lot of trouble drawing him. And man I couldn't draw his poofy hair consistently to save my life! Most of the given expressions don't really match what I drew b/c I'm not good enough to pull them off (like that is not weeping.. that's like screaming, out of character)

Haha I like the way bashful Killua looks! Weeping is a little over the top, like what a sad character would look like in a comedy manga like Gintama or Sket Dance xD!

Wish I could have done the background a bit better though.
I mean I like the colors I picked. It's just that there are some
parts I messed up on and I need to learn how to add more
shine or something.

my idea for Meleoron's ability is that he quickly fades into black and white then to transparent. This would happen within a second. So it would be like flash and then he's gone.

If you use Photoshop, try using some gradient instead of plain colors.

I'm a newbie with colorings, but gradient often makes them seem better.
