This thread is in response to the everlasting discussion around fillers, as well as part 1 vs part 2 discussions.
Part 1 actually had quite a few filler episodes, not to mention non-canon scenes that prolonged the plot (not necessarily in a good way). To be frank much of the "part 1 anime was so godly" hype is due to the vast majority having watched it in one go without having to endure a week with awful animation etc. Also you can't mention part 1 anime without including the 100 filler episodes between part 1 and part 2 manga. Those episodes count. But how convenient that most members here at this time probably have no memories of struggle of those times as they are too new to Naruto to having experienced it. In a way, that way of including fillers is even worse than what Pierrot does now. This is another reason for why people view part 1 with such pure glasses, the vast majority skipped those 100 filler episodes entirely because Shippuden was already out by the time they got that far. How would the same people view part 1 anime now, if they had been caught up, say around 10 episodes after the part 1 canon material ended? That's another roughly 2 years (90ish episodes) of fillers in one great streak.
Those 100 filler episodes are also a HUGE reason for why the part 1 "canon" anime could survive without having several long filler arcs in the middle of the series, and only needing to prolong the plot, often drastically, and include some small fillers (scenes and/or episodes) here and there.
Even excluding the fillers, part 1 actually had quite a lot of awful episodes, including terrible animation. People just didn't notice/mind that much due to having the next episode instantly available afterwards. Fights that were quite short and intense in the manga, example Neji vs Naruto, were dragged out into eternity with Naruto struggling forever with his sealed chakra and having prolonged dramatic staring contests, where I swear Neji was having a coffee break at some point.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the part 1 anime (and manga). But the pure view of part 1 is grossly ignorant. Those that watched it weekly had to suffer quite a bit sometimes as the pace was quite slow, not to mention the suffering people had to endure for over 2 years after the part 1 canon material ended, and the anime was waiting for part 2 material to pile up.
