Does it mean She is different after got dump? or his life is different after that?
The speaker is a man talking to his life and ex. He's sad.
But I don't know why he won't use past tense untill the last context.

There's difference between just declining to be lovers and not accepting her(feeling,endevour and so on),he says.

ただ交際を断る｢の｣とは違う
ただ交際を断る｢こと｣とは違う
