Golden age 282: From Perfect to Ultimate
- Surrounded by a pillar of light, QP declares that he has become the god of tennis.
- Shocked, Irie realizes that Oni has once again strengthened his opponent with his own hands.
- Volk explains that QP has become the Ultimate Quality by being exposed to all three radiances of the Light of Pride.
- QP thinks that, even though he didn't know why, he's wanted to become strong ever since he was a little child. Right now, his body feels light and the court small, and he'll show Lendoll the ultimate quality they've sought.
- Oni is aced again and again, with QP's third serve escaping through Oni's legs. The spectators comment on how humiliating this must be for Oni.
- Mifune comments on Ken, calling him the famous young commander who played a central role in Germany's success in recent years.
- But, Oni isn't ready to let it end like this. Declaring that the fire in his soul is still burning, he connects with QP's next serve. The shot is too powerful, though, and Oni is sent flying.
- QP says it's because Oni tried to return the shot carelessly. The audience comments how QP is an extraordinary product in all respects, including his power, speed and technique.
- Kintarou wonders if there wasn't a strange sound as Oni hit the ball. As if to confirm Kintarou's question, as Oni goes to pick up his racket, he cries out, clutching his wrist in pain.
- Unable to hold on to his racket, Oni quickly drops another game.
- During the changeover, Oni orders the medical team to wrap his racket around his right hand.
- As he gets up from the bench, someone (maybe Nakagauchi? he uses Oni's first name) shouts that it's impossible to even hold a racket with his wrists in that condition and that Oni should withdraw.
- Oni reminisces that he knows a guy who kept playing despite both of his wrists being broken. Thanks to that, Oni has strengthened his own resolve. He feels the gates of hell have opened.
- After Oni loses the next point, too, Siegfried comments that Oni won't be able to return QP's shots with just spirit. Bismarck contradicts him, saying that someone who has as much resolve as Oni does won't leave it at this.
- The audience is cheering for Japan.
- Volk thinks that Oni's resolve has increased Japan's determination and changed the atmosphere in the stadium. He mentally commands QP to break that resolve.
- QP follows suit. He reasons that when players have to defend left and right, they can predict the next shot to some extent and keep running, but by sending someone to the back and front, their spirit gets broken easily.
- Accordingly, he forces Oni to come into the net with a drop shot before lobbing the ball over Oni's head. With great effort, Oni catches up to the ball and returns it. But, at the net QP is already waiting to hit another drop shot.
- QP doesn't understand why Oni keeps struggling, even though the point is already decided.
- Tanegashima says that Oni is carrying a great responsibility on his back.
- Oni slides into the ball with all his might - although he doesn't manage to get the ball over the net, his resolve doesn't waver.
- A demonic Oni tells QP he will drag him into hell.
- The crowd comments that playing tennis with a broken wrist is impossible, and that Oni's gone far enough already.
- Byoudouin tells the middle schoolers to watch Oni closely and burn his graceless death into their memories.
- Oni continues to be pushed around. QP doesn't understand why Oni's flame is still burning, even though Oni seems like he has reached his limit.
- As QP winds up for another drive volley, one of the middle schoolers shouts that Oni's done enough already and that it's okay for him to stop fighting at this point.
- As he hits the shot, QP understands that as long as there's still string on Oni's racket, he won't escape from this hell: "Even if I achieve the 'ultimate quality', even if I dominate the match and ensure victory... What is this terror? If I can't pierce your soul along with that racket, it doesn't look like I can break free from this hell!"
- Returning the ball, Oni shouts out that he can't afford to lose.
- Tokugawa is reminded of the previous year when Oni gave up his spot as a representative to train him.
- As the strings of his racket crumble under the weight of QP's shot, Oni asks the others to lend him their strength.
- In the end, the two central strings resist the impact...
