Golden age 356: Everyone has a Chance
- At the end of Tokugawa and Ryoma's confrontation with Medanore, Tokugawa asks "which one" Medanore is at the moment. Medanore says he looks forward to playing against Tokugawa, then makes a call on his cellphone.
- The coaches are surprised that the boys were able to win against Germany, but it came at the hefty price of Byoudouin and Oni. Pondering what to do about the final lineup, they decide to have it be decided by an intra-team ranking tournament. In this tournament, there are separate brackets for S1, S2, S3, D1 and D2. Each player can decide for themselves which position to compete for.
- As Ryoma and Kintarou talk, Ryoma reveals he's aiming for singles 2. Kintarou is confused and asks if Ryoma doesn't want to fight against strong opponents, but Ryoma reveals that in his opinion, Tokugawa should play singles 1. Kintarou then says that if he'll sign up for singles 2 as well, so that he can fight against Ryoma. Atobe's overheard this all.
- Ohmagari asks Tanegashima whether he's planning to go for singles or doubles, but before Tanegashima answers, he spots Shiraishi and asks him what he's planning to do. Shiraishi, as Shitenhouji's captain, answers he's planning to team up in doubles with Kintarou, but Tanegashima asks Shiraishi to play doubles with him instead.
- Ohmagari complains about Tanegashima not pairing up with him, but Tanegashima reveals that even if all high schoolers win their matches for the spots, only 4 of them can actually get in, so it's better to team up with a middle schooler. Ohmagari says he might be right, and goes to look for Kite. But before he goes, Shiraishi says he has a request for him.
- Kimijima reaches out to Kite, calling back on the deal he made with him in the U-17 camp. The deal was that he'd recommend Kite as his doubles partner. Kite says he thought that deal was terminated, but Kimijima tells him to think about it anyway, and not to betray him this time.
- Meanwhile, Sanada is revealed to have signed up for singles 1, and he's practicing his triple clutch on the courts outside.
- Tokugawa, Irie, and Oni talk about how much the middle schoolers have grown, and the high schoolers as well. Oni is out of the game due to his wrist. Tokugawa says he wanted to take the world together with him, and Irie comments on how he's basically declaring his victory against Spain already. Oni asks Tokugawa whether he's talked to Byoudouin about his experiences from when he was studying abroad in Europe and the reason why he sticks to "righteousness".
- Ohmagari approaches Kite, and Kite reveals that his upperclassmen have been approaching him one after the other and that it's caused quite some trouble for him in making his choice.
- Oni and Byoudouin come across each other in the hallway, and reveal to the other they'll be alright in a few days's time. Oni brings up the subject of tomorrow's match to Byoudouin.
- Oshitari happens to see that Atobe has signed himself up for singles 3.
- Kite comes to Marui for advice on what to do, and Marui says that for Kite to get so many love calls from upperclassmen, it's probably gonna rain tomorrow. Marui tells him he has the best chance getting on the team by teaming up with Kimijima, though Ohmagari was ranked higher than him in the camp, so he might be stronger. Marui tells Kite he's amazing for learning how to use Nitouryuu from Ohmagari, and even getting an invite from Kimijima. Kite says it's all just from his own ability and tells Marui to try to invite Kimijima himself. Marui says he's afraid and that he'll only drag Kimijima down. Kite asks him if he's lost his self-confidence, considering Marui's self-proclaimed genius. Marui reveals that unlike the rest, he hasn't been slotted for a game yet, and he wonders if his tennis would have any effect against a world-class player. He feels like there was no way he would be chosen from among these members. However, Marui says he's been making preparations in his own way.
- Tohno begs Mifune to let him play in the intra-team ranking tournament.
- In the outskirts of Spain, Romeo Fernández (Spanish rep, MS 3rd year) is chained shirtless behind a cliff under a mansion. He asks the guard, who addresses him as prisoner number 1226, to release his chains. Seemingly hypnotised by the bouncing of the tennis ball against Romeo's racket, the guard obliges.
- The alarm goes off, and Romeo asks the guard to open the cell and give him his guard clothes. "Entendido," is the guard's response. Romeo tricks the other guards by saying the prisoner has escaped through the water corridor and is heading for the coast.
- In an air balloon, Romeo apologises to Medanore and says he was a little held up. He tells Medanore he's ready to play in the matches the day after tomorrow.
- The guards reveal that Romeo is the son of the lord of the mansion above the cliff and that Romeo's been locked up here each year to no avail. The lord apologises that Romeo's sideshow seems to be getting flashier each year, but he didn't imagine Romeo would have himself locked up to then escape.
- Romeo asks his butler Rafael in his private jet how long it'll take to get to Melbourne, and declares his excitement to play against Japan.
