Welcome to the Mangahelpers Light Novel Forum​

Light Novels (ranobe) are a style of book popular with Japanese readers. They are often, but not always, serialized in anthology magazines before being compiled into book form. Many are published directly as books. Light Novel are most often first printed in bunkoban format. Many popular anime have been based on Light Novel's, including Full Metal Panic, Suzumiya Haruhi, the Monogatari Series, Oreimo, To Aru Majutsu no Index, Toradora, Sword Art Online, Accel World, Chuunibyou, and many more.

• One thread per series.
• Title and Author must be included in the thread title.
• There are no requirements, but please try and include as much information about a series as possible when starting a new thread.
• Threads should be about Light Novel's only, discuss manga in the appropriate demographic board.
• Manga adaptions of Light Novels should be discussed in the appropriate demographic board.
• Anime adaptions of Light Novels should be discussed in the Otaku Theater.
• General Light Novel Discussion threads are welcome in this forum.
• Members are welcome and encouraged to start threads in this forum.

Welcome to Mangahelpers Visual Novels Forum! Visual Novels are a type of video game popular in Japan, but rarely translated for North American or European release. They are typically text driven, with largely static, anime style art in the background, sometimes featuring more complicated animation between chapters. The reader is periodically confronted by "events", situations in which they have to choose a specific response, or action, before continuing. The choose the player makes determines what "branch" the story takes. Make the right choice, and raise "flags", leading to a good ending. The wrong choice can lead to a "bad ending".

There are visual novels for practically every genre. Romance are the most famous, but there are also many well known action, sci-fi, mystery, and drama games. Popular visual novels are often adapted into anime. Steins;Gate, Clannad, Fate/Stay Night, To Heart, and Amagami (among many others) were all based on popular visual novels.

Visual novels marketed towards women are referred to as Otome Games. Kiniro no Koruda, Alice in the Country of Hearts, and Uta no Prince-sama are examples of Otome Games.

Many visual novels contain some nudity and sexual content. This does not make them porn. Nukige are porn, a special type of visual novel focusing on sex. Even many download sites mistake the two. Think of nukige as an interactive ******, all other types of visual novels are interactive manga. The format are the same, and manga can contain adult content without being considered ******. When in doubt, use common sense.
