Yeah, Trial had great editing as well and they're too entirely different types of films. I just really think Sound of Metal could so easily have been slow and boring (despite great acting performances) if it wasn't so meticulously edited (in both film and sound). Instead it's a film I've thought about almost daily since I watched it.

Best Picture is really up in the air at this point. I bet on Nomadland but can easily see it going to Minari, The Father or Promising Young Woman.

Soul definitely deserved Best Score, I'll say that much.

Honestly I like the feel of this Oscars. It feels kinda homey and humble as opposed to the pretentious feel it can give off sometimes in previous years.

Damn, Frances was my 4th pick.

This was really an wide-open race until the end.

I'm sooooo damn happy for Frances though. She's one of very few to win three acting Oscars ever and she's one of my favorite people in Hollywood.

Hopkins might have been the biggest surprise imho of the gala. Guess I'll need to see that film as well.

Also not single MHer picked him.

Pretty anti-climactic ending. Lol. I was off on both the big Acting prizes. Thought Boseman was a dead lock, but I guess many voters also did and felt secure in voting Hopkins without ruining Chadwick's win.

So Frances McDormand is the third (!) person ever to win three Oscars for Best Acting (not supporting), after Katherine Hepburn and Daniel Day-Lewis. Only Hepburn has won more acting Oscars overall (4 total).

And Anthony Hopkins is the oldest Acting winner in Oscars history.

Like, I get people will be disappointed Boseman and Davis didn't get it, but if you're gonna lose then losing to Anthony friggin Hopkins and Frances McDormand is the way to do it.

I was way off this year, but as I had mentioned before, I was quite meh about the whole thing this year.
Honestly feel like so many of the wins weren't "deserved". Understand why they'd be picked, but I don't know, something like "Sound of Metal" just felt much better across the board than something like "Nomadland".
