I am sorry to hear that Queenie. Life is harsh sometimes, what is beyond control can only bring you grieve and sorrow, if you keep dwelling on it. You have to be strong for the sake of your friend. I know its very hard but if your friend find you in a broken state, it will be even worst for her/him. You have to be there for him/her, its the best you can do. I can only offers words of sympathy and encouragement. I am here for you if you need to talk about it.

It's hard to cope with this, but think of the positive memories. If you can talk with your friend, then make her be happy and make her smile 'til her last breath, let her know that she's loved. It's what I'd do, as well as realize the fragility of life (which I'd forget soon enough).

If I were you, I'd contact her and talk to her. Just talking to someone can mean a lot.

Of course you'll be helpless when a friend is dying. Don't focus on your helplessness... you're not helpless. You can help. You can't help your friend not die, but you can help your friend live with a smile until the end. You can help by creating positive emotions. People are gonna die anyway, ignore that. Focus more on keeping people enjoying life until it's their time.

Okay. Thanks for the advice, you two. I'm going to try... thing is, she's not online on facebook anymore that much, which is what we usually use to communicate... I'm staying in a muslim country at the moment, so they kept telling me "Oh, God knows best. He only takes people he knows need to be taken."
I know they're only trying to make me feel better but it just made me feel worse... Especially as I don't believe in a God. I used to say that I wasn't sure, an agnostic just waiting on more information to make a decision... but after this year, I can't find myself believing in one. I've seen too many innocent things die to believe in one. Shitty things happen; there's no "big man" watching us. Especially one that would let a teenage die years before her time.

Sorry if I offend anyone. I'm a little... shaken at the moment. I'm also scared. Which is bad, since I'm not the one dying. I have no right to be.

I won't try to comfort you and say that everything will be ok because I've been through the same thing so knowing the circumstances, it won't, and it never will.

Instead I want you to take all the time you need to process and go through this in the best possible way, and I'll always be here if you need someone to talk to.

Well, we have not met yet so it might be weird for me to say this... But I've been in such position where I feel like helpless and I've seen people who feel helpless very often in their life. But I was once told not to get to depressed over something you can't control. I know it's hard to do, but think about it slowly, over and over again, that you being depressed and sulking all day will help neither of you, so why keep doing so? Such is life, we can't expect everything to go smoothly. All the best you can do is stay with her to the very end and make the rest of her life the best moments ever.

I wish you all the best for you and your friend.

Well, I'm back guys.

I want to say thank you to everyone for being so understanding and for their kind words. They really mean a lot. Thorny, Milly, Phio-chan, Blai... thank you. <3

As for my friend, she is not getting any better. She's never getting better. But that doesn't mean I can keep shirking my responsibilities and just leave. She was in hospital with trouble breathing a few days ago, after I came and visited her, but she's out now... which is good. I'm always afraid the next time she goes back to hospital will end up being her last...

I'm still not religious; but I would like to respectfully request anyone who would like to pray for her to do so. Her name is Renee Isabella Sagado, and she is 20 years old from Manila, if that helps.
I've found myself buying offerings and praying for her at all the Chinese temples I've been visiting here in Malaysia. I don't even know what gods they are, but I figure it can't hurt.
