The solo and sub-unit stuff was probably planned even before Wendy got injured.

Subunits and the like are likely for any group that lasts this long, the question is would it be happening now or not? Reminder that Wendy was injured in December and they basically cancelled all promotions for Psycho when that happened. Aside from a few tour dates they've basically done nothing music-wise all year. Even this sub-unit was delayed a month. Red Velvet usually has like 3 Korean comebacks a year under normal circumstances.

Monster doesn't really feel like a "Summer" concept either, despite what people were expecting.
