Riza is a woman in her mid-to-late twenties. She is muscular and curvaceous build. She has blonde hair that reaches the middle of her back and brown eyes. Riza has broad shoulders from her military training and flared hips appropriate for her age. While she is known to wear her hair down,

on the job Riza wears it up in the back with a clip barrette in a style that resembles a bird tail. Her bangs fall in a hawk's wing pattern from right to left, occasionally partially obscuring her left eye.

Although she had worn her hair short in her youth and in Ishval,

she began letting it grow out in 1910 after talking with Winry Rockbell. Each of her ears is pierced with a silver stud. She usually wears a black, short-sleeved turtleneck under her military uniform and often while in casual dress as well. She is mostly seen in long skirts and boots. She also has a large tattoo

that covers most of her back with large parts of it completely obscured by burned scars. She always wears fitted clothing to hide the tattoo.

Pᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ

Riza is a quiet, collected woman, with a serious but courteous demeanor. She is viewed by her peers as the model of a perfect soldier. She is strictly disciplined, extremely rational, rarely relaxes when on the job, is usually tasked with keeping her colleagues on track. Though from the outside she might seem strict and even a little mean, she is not as cold and distant as people may think.

Those close to her know that there is more to her than her no-nonsense attitude. Beneath her professional aura is a kind soul who understands the difficulty of carrying a heavy burden.

Riza's softer side tends to make itself known through her interactions with younger characters, like the Elric brothers and Winry Rockbell. It isn't unusual to see her behaving sweetly toward her pet Black Hayate, but while in private. Since she is very disciplined, she takes her work seriously and is almost never seen “dropping formalities,” even with those who are most intimate to her. She’s not prone to public displays of affection, preferring to show her feelings through more subtle ways.

She also has some some humor. Growing up at her father's house, she probably experienced a sheltered sort of childhood. After joining the military, her experiences in Ishval destroyed her youthful idealism and transformed her into the nearly stoic, Lieutenant Hawkeye.

She emerges from the war with a tremendous will, strong enough to shoulder the heavy guilt she willingly bears. She uses this motivation to stand along side and support Mustang in the hopes that future generations will remain free of the horrors like in Ishval.

She doesn't speak unnecessarily or express her feelings often through words, but she reveals most of her thoughts through nonverbal communication, like with trademark sharp looks and rare, subtle smiles.

Her character shows a mix between a tortured woman looking for redemption and a resigned acceptance of past mistakes and their consequences.

Riza learns from Ishval to accept responsibilities for her actions herself, rather than placing the blame or the burden on another person.

She decides she must sacrifice her own happiness and comfort and continue to dirty her hands with blood as a soldier in order to bring peace to the people. Despite the emotional difficulties in facing her mistakes, she learns to school herself and her emotions as personal struggles, brushing off the concern of others, always bearing grief or physical pain with a stiff upper lip.

They're both really good characters, and from what I've read about Hanako they're both also very deserving of winning this whole thing.

But only one of them is a volleyball player.

Nah, I don't know Hanako outside of what I've seen from the campaigning and a pretty good case has been made for her. With Erza and Boa I knew they weren't even nearly in the same league as Riza. So at this point if Riza loses I'll assume it's because Hanako actually deserves it.

I just can't see her deserve it more than Riza, but still.

Hanako.

I'm still pretty pissed off that Androssi lost to her but if she lost she might as well have lost to the champ. Also Hanako shares a VA with a certain somebody.

So, if I close my eyes, I can pretend this is 5% less of a travesty than it actually was. It's not much but I'll take what I can get.

Not because she isn't a great "waifu" candidate but because I didn't expect people to know her to the extent that she would be able to get to the semifinals. :lambirb

Personally I love Hanako's fun personality, how she is shown as a friend and as a girlfriend. Espescially in the manga.
I really don't want to sound like a broken record but for the ones that might not know her yet I'll put a short summary:

Hanako Koyanagi is a 27 year old woman that works in the same office as Kabakura, Momose and Nifuji. Kabakura and Hanako has known each other since high school and have also been in a relationship since then. Hanako is an "otaku" that likes stage plays, cosplaying and BL manga (mainly).
