It occurred to me that Shanks was with Roger previously and that should mean he at one point gained an understanding about where each of the road poneglyphs were.
The same is also true of Buggy because he was also on Roger's ship. However, they were both junior officers or something like that, so it is possible that they weren't allowed to know that kind of information.
However, I think it is very unlikely that Shanks didn't eventually put the pieces together from his experience combined with his history with Roger's crew.
It is said that the man in the black ship who creates whirlpools possesses the last poneglyph. If that is true, then it may also be true that Roger knew that person and Shanks may know him as well.
