That's not how research works though. Unless someone is standing in the way of funding AI research... which, doesn't make much sense.

The only problems that get solved are the ones people tackle.

There's no need to tackle hard problems like AI.

When it is much more profitable and easy to become a millionaire/billionaire tackling easy problems.

On the contrary, AI is a holy grail for ruling elites.

As it would allow them to fire nearly every engineer and skilled laborer in the global work force and replace them with AI bots instead.
