You asked for it, you got it

You want to make predictions about Oscar results?

If you are not sure what they are (the Oscar's I mean), then I am not sure how you found this thread...

Just think of a small golden statue of a man holding a stick being given out to some undeserving actors/actresses/directors/general nobodies related to films in some way or other.
Think far too many emotions
Crying (most fake, but there may be a few genuine tears here and there)
Fancy costumes
Think the exact kind of occasion which Kanye West may rush up on stage, uninvited, and make an arse of himself!

Think this

So ask yourself: Who do you think is going to win? What are your favourite nominees?
Who do you think will win (and more importantly, who do you think should win)...

Also, to increase the fun all the way to 11 - there's a fancy competition (with a possibility to win a nice badge also [terms and conditions apply - badges may be revoked/not given out at moderator's discretion])

To be fair, you should really play - even if you hate the Oscars - especially if you hate the Oscars... only because, if you win, you can lord it over all those who actually do care!

So, with that all said, I present:

MH Oscars Contest 2018

It's that time again, time to pretend that you know more about films than you actually do.
Time to unequivocally state why your choices are correct and why anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron
(please don't actually do this - peace and love for everyone ね :love)

...
Anyway
It all finally culminates on Sunday the 4th March, at the 90th Academy Awards.
Awards will be handed out for all kinds of film related categories - Best Film, Best Actor/Actress in a leading role, Best person-who-wasn't-good-enough-to-be-the-leading-actor-so-we-made-a-runners-up-prize-to-make-them-feel-better... There's even an award for hairstyling?!?

We at Mangahelpers are hosting our own Oscar winners poll, with the chance to win your own Oscar. As an award badge [again, if anyone asks, although I wrote this, I don't promise nuthin'!].

Rules:
- Go here and make your picks!
- The user with the most correct guesses wins the award. Remember to leave your username in the poll.
last year, some bright sparks forgot this/wrote random handles (they didn't win, funnily enough - mainly cause I am far too lazy to try and guess/think about who is who - make it simple if you want to win. If not, just write your name as M3J and pick shitty picks)
- Only 1 entry allowed. In case an user does multiple entries, only the last one counts.
- In case of a tie, the user with most corrects in the Big 5 Categories wins. (Best Film, Directing, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, and both Screenplay categories)
- If still a tie, then I am sure we will be able to think of some way to separate the quality wheat from the less-savoury chaff
-There is time to vote until 5:00 p.m. PST on March 4, 2018 // 1AM on March 5th GMT
- You are allowed to discuss your picks and personal favourites in the thread. Telling us why you voted how you voted is highly important necessary recommended.

And remember, if you lose:

1. You weren't actually trying - if you were, you'd have crushed everyone else easily!
2. You didn't really care anyway
3. Someone probably cheated, bribing a mod to miscount their votes...
4. Who are these mods anyway - blithering idiots must have made a mistake somewhere or other
5. It's only the Oscars - not some actually important award - like the Golden Cleric or something

I think that Black Swan is one of the best movies ever in the industry...it is certainly one of the best IMO...I still can't find words how beautiful it was....in every single aspect...that's why it should win in every category where it is nominated

I made my picks and predictions in another thread already, but I guess I'll share it here as well.

I have heard and read that Black Swan is a magnificent movie, I haven’t watched it yet but a friend of mine told me it was incredible! And even though I haven’t watched it yet, I must admit I would really like for Natalie Portman to win in the Best actress category.

Interesting picks and predictions, Organizized. I have just watched “Inception” so I can’t really make an informative and fair decision on which nominees I think should be the winners, but…I thought Inception was pretty cool so I wouldn’t mind if ends up taking the gold in some categories.

From the entire Oscars List, I have only seen 4 of these movies. Alice in the Wonderland, Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, and Iron Man 2. Let the best movie win.

I'm a bit butthurt that Black Swan didn't win more...at least in the music categories...it's freaking Tsaikovsky, with some mixing and editing from Clint Mansell-_-...at least Natalie won, and that was a relief, because I'm a bit ashamed but I have to admit, that I started to doubt...U can punish me whenever U want Natalie:hurr...

I didn't see King's Speech, yet, but I heard from many people that it's a well deserved win, but I still would've wanted Black Swan to take at least Best Cinematography or Best Adapted Screenplay

The only win which was kinda surprising was Melissa Leo winning Best Supporting Actress. I thought Bonham-Carter would win that one for sure, though hoping for Hailee Steinfeld. Leo was great in The Fighter, though, so it was well deserved. :)

Other than that, there wasn't really any big whoop... Even though I predicted The Social Network to win Best Director, "Best Picture" and "Best Director" have shared winners like 80% of the years so far, so that wasn't anything surprising either..

I'm glad Christian Bale got the Best Supporting Actor award.. He's been the #1 for voters on all the big movie sites, but I thought the Academy would be typical and pick Geoffrey Rush because Bale is... well, Bale.

What did everyone think of James Franco and Anne Hathaway as hosts? Personally, I thought they had their moments but at times it was really quite disastrous... :p

I am sorry for my ignorance because I haven't watched the Oscars fully yet. I missed it out on TV! When will it be replayed?

Anyway, I really cannot find this on the internet. What category was the part where various clips of winning movies were joined together to form a very unique music? I took a glimpse of it while my brother was watching it and it was entitled "He Doesn't Have His Shirt On."

I really want to know because it was so cool. It had Harry Potter, Toy Story and Justin Timberlake (I can't recall) in it - including the guy in Twilight.

Thank you in advance!

Re: The Oscars / 2012

Awesome thread destiny, one of the rare occasions I spot a thread and want to me a post in an instant! Well my personal favorite would be Woody Allen and his film, due to personal liking of all of his work. I suspect some tihngs to be obvious though after the Golden Globes so we can clearly have some winners already checked for the Oscars. Also even though it is hyped to get awards I agree with the hype of "The Artist".

Re: The Oscars / 2012

I'm disappointed Drive didn't get more nominations... Oh well. Midnight in Paris should win best original screenplay, I loved the dialog in that movie! Even though I haven't seen The Descendants I can sort of see Clooney winning the best actor in a leading role. I'm also wondering why neither Tintin nor Arriety were nominated for best animated picture.

Re: The Oscars / 2012

I think Glenn Close deserved it more than Meyrl Streep, for some reason, must be the movie, I am not really fond of Thatcher as a historical character. :/ Though I think Meyril was right on spot with how the audience reacted to her winning. Albert Nobbs is just a legendary movie, and a legendary role that Glenn played. Transformation of the highest epicness! Also my man Woody won best screenplay, natural and expected of him. :D

Re: The Oscars / 2012

^ Awesome Simpsons reference :D. I would have also liked to see Drive win something but it seems like the kind of movie that will only get recognized later on, like Taxi Driver and Fight Club. I really am glad that The Artist won best picture though. I saw it the day before the Oscars and loved it! I'm also glad that DuJardin won best actor, though I find it strange that Bérénice Bejo was nominated for best supporting actress rather that best actress.

Well…I still need to watch Glenn Close’s movie, but Meryl Streep was great in “The Iron Lady”, her performance was outstanding so I do understand why she won the Oscar.

And yes, Woody won best screenplay and he totally deserved to win that award. ^_^

The Artist is a wonderful movie; I was so happy that it won the best picture award. :) Loved the movie as well! The story, the acting, the music, everything was great about The Artist.

I'm also glad that DuJardin won best actor, though I find it strange that Bérénice Bejo was nominated for best supporting actress rather that best actress.
I was glad about him winning best actor too, and I was surprised that she was nominated for that category as well. I guess…it might have to do with the definition of a supporting actress…

Re: The Oscars / 2012

If you liked The Artist, I really recommend the others Hazanavicius movies of you find them subtitled, in particular the OSS117. They are James Bond parodies with the same cast than the Artist (at least for lead roles)
He is also very famous for La classe américaine

btw is it true that there was a big polemic about his f-word ?
