On Saturday, the official website for Shueisha's Jump Square magazine posted the cover for the January issue, which is revealing next Saturday that a theatrical anime film adaptation of Takeshi Konomi's The Prince of Tennis manga is in production.

The original manga followed Ryoma Echizen and his tennis team as they rise through Japan's local and national tournaments. The manga ran for 379 installments between July of 1999 and March of 2008, and the 42 compiled volumes have sold over 40 million copies. Konomi has since launched a manga sequel called Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama (The New Prince of Tennis) in Jump Square in March of 2009. (The fourth compiled book volume of the new series is shipping this month.)

Viz Media will publish the 40th manga volume in North America next January. The manga already inspired a television anime series, a string of original video anime projects, two earlier double-billed theatrical anime films, and a live-action film.

I would interested, what the film will be about. Perhaps a story summary of the first Part of the manga or perhaps a Filler-Story.

Prediction:

Tezuka will create life on a far away planet during 7 matches.

I just hope it won't be shit like the first anime film was. Let's not have dinosaurs this time.

Lmao. Well, at least that movie gave a reason for the extinction of the dinosaurs. It was all Tezuka's fault.

Anyway, hopefully this movie will be based on the Seigaku vs Rikkaidai match in the national tournament. The manga seemed really, really rushed, at that point, and perhaps Konomi regrets that. Perhaps we'll see what the manga should of been.

It seems like the teams that faced Seigaku in the Nationals have all been invited to England. And are at Wimbledon's courts.

Well of course it depends on when they get their hands on the RAW, its just that the movie has already been released. Do they not get their hands til the RAW when the DVD is released?

Just as I thought. Im just wondering how the subbers do the job. Do they sub it once they get the DVD?
Or is it possible to sub it once its in Cinemas.

Typical Fansub Process is:
1) Someone need to record or rip the raw from somewhere (whether it be DVD, TV etc)
2) Send to Translator
4) Someone Times the Translations to the audio on the video file (this part is annoying)
5) Create Subs (This can either be very simple or very hard...It could be as easy as creating a soft sub srt file, other wise you have someone who goes in and hard subs it to the video where it can't be ripped out)
6) Extra Stuff (Karaoke on the opening and endings, adding credits, etc)
7) encode the video (usually h.264 nowadays. Audio can be in MP3/FLAC/etc)
8) Testing and QC and then Load for Distro.
