Hi,
I think that I have solved the riddle of Hisoka in chapter 327 during his fight with Gotoh.

1) The 22 coins are the 22 Major Arcana of Tarot
Hisoka is like the Joker that uses both Minor Arcana (his cards with the french suits) suits and Major Arcana (22 Tarot).
2) Hisoka represents The Hanged Man and Death
http://fanfox.net/manga/hunter_x_hunter/v31/c327/1.html#ipg20
In medieval times the Hanged Man was known as the Traitor (Judas that betrayed Jesus Christ). According to the Gospels Judas hunged himself on a redbud tree.
As a matter of fact, in the old depictions of the Hanged Man, there is also money that falls from him (the money of Judas).
The money of Gotoh is the money that falls from the Hanged Man.

The Hanged Man represents both Jesus and Judas in relation to different esoteric interpretations of the Tarots:
-Judas died hanging himself to a tree.
-Jesus died crucified on a cross but in some accounts, he also died on a tree:
Acts 5:30
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

Acts 10:39
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

Acts 13:29
29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

1 Peter 2:24
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1) Chrollo and 12 members of Genei Ryodan=Jesus and 12 Apostles.
2) Death and Resurrection of Hisoka (Jesus) with Mary (Machi) and the symbolical crucifixion of 2 thieves (Kortopi and Shalnark) eaten by crows.
So, Hisoka and Chrollo have both the role of Judas and Jesus:
-Hisoka/Judas betrayed and sold Chrollo/Jesus to Kurapika
-Chrollo/Judas betrayed Hisoka/Jesus promised him a fight and after he lied and run away and prepared a strategy that killed him attacking in the back. But Hisoka/Jesus resurrected.

Hisoka the Magician is based on the first representation of Jesus the Magician (before his classical representation of our days like Tserriednich) in early Christianity (when Christianity was persecuted by Romans and Hebrews and Jesus was seen as an "Evil Magician" with his miracles).
Jesus early representation was also similar to Hermes/Mercury (and the link to magic) where Jesus the Good Sheppard was linked and syncretized with Hermes Kriophoros and his depictions in the catacombs of Rome.

Early depiction of Jesus
Today depiction of Jesus
Hisoka's resurrection and his representation of the 4th Month in the Ryodan (April) are linked to our festivity of Easter (Eostre, the germanic April) and the resurrection of Jesus. Ressurection Sunday or Pascha.

3) Killua and Alluka represent the Lovers

4) Illumi represents the Devil, the enemy of the Lovers.
In the esoteric meanings of Tarots, the Devil (Tarot number 15=1+5=6) is opposed to the Lovers (Tarot number 6)
The Devil and the Lovers express the opposition of the 2 forms of Love: Selfless Love and Selfish Love.
  • The Love of Lovers is selfless Love, and it is represented by the love between Killua and Alluka.
  • The Love of the Devil is selfish Love and it is represented by the love of Illumi for Killua.
The male and female figures chained by the Devil (Illumi) are the Lovers (Killua and Alluka) that want to restrain and control them, for his selfish reasons.

The couples are Hisoka-Illumi (Antagonists) and Killua-Alluka (Protagonists):

  • Hisoka=Killua (Yang/White Hair)
  • Illumi=Alluka (Yin/Black Hair)
But it is also reversed:
  • Killua=Illumi: the normal character.
  • Hisoka=Alluka: the "monster".
As a matter of fact, both Hisoka and Alluka represent the number 4 (In East Asian countries the sound of the words "four" and "death" is similar, so there is a connection between the number 4 and Death -Tetraphobia):
-Hisoka is the 4th member of the Genei Ryodan because he is the Grim Reaper/Death of the Spider.

-Alluka is Silva's 4th daughter/son because she/he is the death of the Zoldyck Family (if you say "no" to her requests 4 times you will die because 4=Death).

Hope you liked it, and I hope that in this way it is easier to understand the length of Togashi's work, which isn't so simple like some people believe.
