Wikipedia said:
Vocaloid is a singing synthesizer application, [which] enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody. It uses synthesizing technology with specially recorded vocals of voice actors or singers. To create a song, the user must input the melody and lyrics. A piano roll type interface is used to input the melody and the lyrics can be entered on each note. The software can change the stress of the pronunciations, add effects such as vibrato, or change the dynamics and tone of the voice. Each Vocaloid is sold as "a singer in a box" designed to act as a replacement for an actual singer. The software is available in English and Japanese, although a Chinese version was produced for Sonika.
I never expected to like songs sung by a computer program, but it's hard to avoid the Vocaloid fever these days since there are countless of anime fanvideos that adapt the songs and the PV animation. Feel free to post your favorite Vocaloid songs, a good anime/manga rendition of the original, and perhaps share your own if you created a tune yourself. :)

Here are two of my faves:

World's End Dancehall
Matryoshka

Yay! A vocaloid thread :zomg
I agree that the fever is crazy, there's tons of new vocaloid songs per day to check out.
Props to yamaha for creating vocaloid and the people that uses them so well

Anyway, I'll just post my favorite from one of my fav anime, higurashi! :

You - Kaito & Miku Duet

Adding the translation for You because its one of my favorite songs ever,
Where are you and what exactly are you doing at this moment?
Are you somewhere far away beyond those clouds in the sky?
I lost everything dearest to me and had filled my heart
And now after losing everything I realize
All of those different things that you had supported me in
And all of these smiles that you have brought to my face
The burden of loss is more than I can bear
I struggle and struggle as I try to bring them back
All of the things that I had lost in the past
What use are these hands if I cannot bring them back?
Whenever I feel that they're in my hand they are not there
And then they disappear as if they were the wind

I am being strangled by the solitude and despair as
My heart almost gets crumbled by these sad feelings
But my memory always reminds me of your smile
And that always encourages me to move on

Let us go back to that time again once more
I'll assure you that it'll be alright this time
I'll always be smiling upon you at your side
Right by your side

Where are you and what exactly are you doing at this moment?
Are you somewhere far away beyond those clouds in the sky?
Will you please keep that smile on forever until the end of time?
That is all I wish of you to do for me

and another of my fav,

:wtf

There are also covers of Vocaloid songs done by real people. These are all ear candy for girls btw. :p

Marionette sung by Mi-chan His cute name is a contrast to his deep, sultry voice. (*___*)

Petenshi ga Warau Koro ni sung by Shamuon

Kantarera sung by Dasoku

I wonder if any professional artists have used Vocaloids in their songs other than Sound Horizon.

Around the 3:00 mark.

Bonus: KIDS REACT to Hatsune Miku :XD

One of the best artists I've found is AvTechno, his stuff is amazing! Does kinda like a techno-pop styled songs for most of the vocaloids, but DYE is one of my absolute favourites from him.

Another one of my faves is by a guy called yuyoyuppe, a song called Aventure.

Is anyone familiar with or have used MikuMikuDance? It's really cool that you can not only make up songs but can create dance moves as well. What I really like about it is that there's the option to make one's own model so I've seen some really cool videos on Niconico featuring manga characters. My favourite are the ONE PIECE videos because a lot of them are really well done!

I knew of Vocaloid since long ago, but never really tried listening to them. Lately I'm kind of obsessed with supercell and their leader ryo, and I found out he originally used Hatsune Miku for his first few arrangements. One of my favorites is also a collaboration with Miku:

Sooo awesome. :wtf

While I find the idea of using synthesizer of voices extracted from human's voice to sing the lyrics is strange, it's quite an interesting finding, lol. I guess I may try some of Vocaloid songs in the future. There seems so many though, I may need a database. XD
