Welcome to the MangaHelpers Prediction Game for Tokyo Ghoul:re!

Phase 4 has closed, Tokyo Ghoul:re has ended, and thus the game has concluded.
The final results and all the winners have been published and you can find them in the sticky post.

Thank you all for playing!

The basic rules are simple: answer the question asked in the weekly poll by voting one of the available answers, and if the story unfolds the way you predicted, you'll get points. At the end of the game, whoever guessed correctly the most wins. Mainly self-esteem and bragging rights, I guess, but there are some shiny prizes too...!

The core structure that you'll need to keep in mind is the following:

Scoring Rules for the Main LeaderboardGuessing a weekly poll answer correctly gives you 10 points;
If 20% or less people voted the same correct answer they get double points (20), and if more than 50% voted for the same correct answer they only get half the points (5).

A theory that gets voted as the best one in the "Theory of the Arc" poll at the end of the phase is rewarded with 20 points.

The first sub-prediction side game, "Who's going to die during this arc?", gets you 20 points for every character death you guessed right without having guessed another one wrong, calculated at the end of the phase;
The second sub-prediction side game, "Who's going to fight whom?", gets you 5 points for every fight match-up happening the way you predicted without having predicted another one incorrectly, calculated at the end of the phase.
Predicting the outcome of any fight that gets designated to be uncertain enough gets you 2 points, calculated at the end of the phase.

There are no ways to lose points or get a negative score. After the sums of these three results are calculated, the player with the highest total number of points wins a badge.

Scoring Rules for the Secondary LeaderboardEach player's percentage of correct predictions out of their total answers to the weekly polls is automatically included in the ranking. The player with the highest percentage at the end of the phase wins a title.

Only answers to the weekly polls are counted for the percentages.

At the end of the phase, only the players who submitted an answer to at least one-third (rounded down) of the phase's total questions will be included in the leaderboard, regardless of their percentages.

Tokyo Ghoul:re Prediction GameBasic Structure:
A poll is set up every week where users are asked to answer a prediction about the manga's story. The player who ends up with the highest number and percentage of correct predictions wins.

The poll is opened about a day after the chapter's release, so approximately on late Sunday or early Monday; it is automatically closed on Friday at approximately 19:00 UTC, several hours before reliable spoilers for the next chapter start to come out.

Votes are hidden and everyone is allowed to change their vote at any time until the poll is closed.

Duration:
Ideally until the end of the manga, divided in shorter phases functioning as checkpoints to reward players. The phases' duration is based on story arcs - the length for each phase is depending on the arcs themselves, resulting in approximately 16 chapters per phase (roughly four months, so three per year).

If a definitive answer to a question doesn't arrive within the phase in which it was asked, no points from that question are attributed in the leaderboard for that phase. However, if a definitive answer to the question comes during a successive phase, the points are added to the leaderboard of that phase even if the question was asked in a previous one.

Scoring system:
Points are counted in two different leaderboards:

Total correct predictions - the main leaderboard, simply keeping track of the number of correct guesses. One correct prediction in the weekly poll awards 10 points. More than one answer can turn out to be correct.

If 20% or less players voted for a correct answer, they all get a double score (20 points) - if more than 50% of the players voted for the same correct answer, they all get a half score (5 points).

Even though this leaderboard is also influenced by theories and sub-predictions - see their respective voices below to know more - you don't have to take part in any of that to play the game. Voting in the weekly poll is enough to participate and get first place in the leaderboard.
Percentage of correct predictions - the secondary leaderboard, where your rank depends on the percentage of predictions that you guess out of your total, regardless of their number (1 guessed out of 5 is the same as 3 guessed out of 15, meaning 20%).

Unlike the main leaderboard, a minimum amount of predictions is required to get a raking on this one, equivalent to one-third of the total questions of the phase (rounded down) - for the average of 16 questions per phase, that means 5 predictions. Players who provide this minimum amount of predictions get automatically inserted in the leaderboard.

Only answers to the questions asked in the weekly poll affect this leaderboard.

Rewards:
At the conclusion of a phase, after the bonus points from theories and sub-predictions are added to the total, the player who ends up with the highest amount of points in the main leaderboard is awarded a badge, chosen by the winner from a selection of designs themed specifically around the story arc related to the phase.

Similarly, the player who ends up with the highest percentage in the secondary leaderboard is awarded a title to be selected among a number of both predetermined and arc-specific ones. Reaching first place in both leaderboards gets you both prizes.

The two leaderboards are reset at the start of every new phase, but a total count record is kept separately in order to establish the ultimate winner at the end of the game, who will get a special badge and a custom title of their choosing.

Extras:
In addition to voting in the weekly polls, there are two more ways to get points for the main leaderboard: theories and sub-predictions.

Theories [currently on hold] - At the end of every phase, a number of well-constructed theories posted in the section during that phase will be collected in a special poll where members can vote for their favourite ones. The authors of the theories that obtained the most votes will get 20 points added to their score on the main leaderboard for the phase. Not all phases will have theories incorporated in their scoring system; whether they will be rewarded or not depends on the results from every phase individually.

Only one entry every five can come from the same user, and there will be one winning theory every five as well.

If there is only one theory, its author is automatically awarded 20 points.

If there are 2-5 theories, you get one choice to vote for, and the author of the most-voted theory will get 20 points.
Out of those 2-5 theories, only one theory can come from the same user.

If there are 6-10 theories, you get two choices to vote for, and the authors of the most-voted theories will get 20 points each.
Out of those 6-10 theories, only two theories can come from the same user; if they are the two most voted, their author will get 40 points.

Sub-predictions - At the start of every phase, coinciding with the beginning of a story arc, you can choose to take part in two sub-prediction side games in which you must try to predict who will die and who will get to fight whom during the arc. Answers are delivered by posting them in this thread, and you are free to change them at any time while the arc is in its preparation stage - once the action is about to get started, your choices will be locked until the end of the phase.

When the results of every player's predictions are counted at the end of the phase, incorrect predictions are calculated as negative points. You get 10 points for every correct guess, but 10 points are subtracted for every wrong prediction as well. Even if a player ends up with a negative score, however, it will count as scoring zero points and nothing will be subtracted from their total in the main leaderboard.

You make 3 correct predictions and 0 wrong ones: (30 - 0 = 30), so you get 30 points.
You make 3 correct predictions and 2 wrong ones: (30 - 20 = 10), so you get 10 points.
You make 3 correct predictions and 3 wrong ones: (30 - 30 = 0), so you get 0 points.
You make 3 correct predictions and 5 wrong ones: (30 - 50 = - 20); since it's a negative score, you get 0 points.

So if you choose to play, you can only increase your score without the risk of reducing it, which means you won't have any reason not to play if you feel like it.

After negative points are subtracted, having predicted a fight match-up correctly gets you 5 points (as in the examples above), while having predicted a death correctly gets you 20 points. Predicting who won't fight with another character or who won't die do not count as valid predictions.

In addition to that, once the action has already started, you will be able to predict the outcome of every main battle where this will be reasonably possible. The general templates for outcome predictions are as follow:

- X withdraws (during Donato vs. Urie, Donato withdrew)
- Draw (Sasaki vs. Takizawa or Kaneki vs. Arima)

Predicting an outcome correctly will get you 2 points that will be added to your main leaderboard for the phase. The time frames for predicting an outcome will be flexible, depending on the appearance of every single fight.

I said they were simple, not that they were brief, okay?
