Hello everyone! Welcome to the Rules thread!

As a MH event, it is obvious that every Forum Rule applies during this tournament as well, however there are some specific ones that we need to mention separately.

Tournament Rules
1. No bashing or flaming, direct or indirect
Please do not bait, bash or insult each other. Let the discussions flow smoothly and be enjoyable for everyone. Also indirect, antagonistic remarks towards fellow members regarding their vote or their arguments in the discussion are not allowed! Remain Civil at all times.

2. Determining the Winner
The winner is decided by the contestant that manages to beat his/her opponent in the match. It does not necessarily have to be by killing, as long as the opponent is incapacitated in a decisive way or knocked out. That is, a winner emerges once the opponent is unable to continue fighting.

3. Knowledge
Participants will have no additional information about the other characters in the tournament asides those they already know (canonically). That means that all characters are only aware of the other's techniques, abilities, fighting style and mindset if they knew it prior, either due to battles or word of mouth as shown in the manga.

4. Suicidal techniques
Since this is a tournament, suicidal techniques won't be allowed. Characters will be allowed to get seriously hurt in the matches, but they won't be allowed to win a fight by sacrificing themselves as that would mean both contestants would die in the match. Examples: Iced Shell which would seal, and thus incapacitate the opponent but at the cost of the user's life.

5. Characters
Because the plot is moving forward and certain characters are being developed, they can only be considered as they have been "shown" (pic or text) capable of in the manga, except for the few characters that we have imposed a limit on. Take a look at the spoiler a few steps down.

6. Threads and polls
Please leave the polls, the threads, the updates, etc to us. We (the staff) will take care of all organizational business. All you guys have to do is discuss, vote and enjoy the tournament!

7. Voting
There will be 4 votes in the group stage but only 1 vote allowed in all rounds afterwards. We understand that opinions are prone to change so as long as the poll is open, you're allowed to change your vote.

8. The Fights
All fights will happen in a neutral place, no contestant has any advantage or disadvantage over his/her opponent. External factors will not affect the battle itself.

Tournament Information

There are 32 participants in the tournament and the tournament will happen in mainly two stages.

Stage 1 (Group Stage): The first stage is the Group Stage. There are 4 groups with 8 fighters each. The Group Stage is a battle royale. All characters are to fight each other in a free for all. The last 4 to remain standing progress to the next stage. Members will vote for 4 in each group to make a total of 16 who continue to the next stage.

Stage 2 (Knockout Stage): All battles following the Group Stage will be knockout battles. Participants will face off in 1 vs 1 matches where the winner progresses to the next round. Members will vote to decided winners in these battles. The tournament will continue in this manner until the Final Battle, at which point, the Winner of the fight is crowned the Winner of the Tournament. There will be 4 rounds in this stage: Best of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals.

  1. Ajeel Ramal
  2. Bluenote Stinger
  3. Dimaria Yesta
  4. Elfman Strauss
  5. Erza Scarlet
  6. Gajeel Redfox
  7. Gildarts Clive
  8. God Serena
  9. Gray Fullbuster
  10. Jacob Lessio
  11. Jellal Fernandes
  12. Jura Neekis
  13. Juvia Lockser
  14. Kagura Mikazuchi
  15. kyôka
  16. Laxus Dreyar
  17. Lucy Heartfilia
  18. Mard Geer Tartarus
  19. Makarov Dreyar
  20. Marin Hollow
  21. Minerva Orland
  22. Mirajane Strauss
  23. Natsu Dragneel
  24. Neinhart
  25. Orga Nanagear
  26. Rogue Cheney
  27. Sherria Blendy (Third Origin)
  28. Sting Eucliffe
  29. Wahl Icht
  30. Warrod Sequen
  31. Wendy Marvel
  32. Wolfheim

Note: The characters that were chosen were done so on the basis of how much we know about them. Characters with too much mystery in terms of combat ability have not made the cut as the discussions would largely be centered around vague assumptions.

  1. Dimaria's Age Seal won't be allowed, that is, she can't stop time.
  2. Jacob's Transport won't be allowed. He cannot teleport characters to separate dimension. On the other hand, his stealth and all other abilities are still allowed.
  3. Natsu does not have Igneel's leftover Magic Power. However, Fire Dragon King Mode used without Igneel's Power is allowed.
  4. Slayers type Mages who have never shown advanced modes have no access to them (eg Dragon Force, Devil Force).
  5. Neinhart's Creation Magic can only bring back dead characters who have relations to his opponent.
  6. Fairy Law has no restriction on who it works on. Provided the spell is cast, it will be effective against the opponent, regardless of affiliation.
  7. In the case of sacrificial spells, as long as the sacrifice isn't the character, it is allowed, however, the sacrificed piece is considered unusable for the remainder of the tournament.
For example, Lucy is allowed to sacrifice her key(s) to summon the Celestial Spirit King but can no longer use the sacrificed key.
  8. All characters are fighting to win at any and all cost. They therefore have no emotional or psychological barrier preventing them from fully utilizing all spells and abilities in their repertoire.

For all our sakes, follow these rules (and the forum rules in general) and we're sure we will all have a blast with this tournament!

We encourage everyone of you, our dedicated Fairy Tail members to be active and participate in the discussions. That's the only way to win votes and convince other members!

If there are any questions feel free to post in the Fairy Tail Tournament Discussion Thread, or if you prefer privacy you can always contact any of the Tournament Staffers:
