Welcome! Detailed below are the rules for the Tournament. Please take some time to go through them.

This is a MH event so all Forum Rules apply. As such, it is expected that the courtesy and etiquette standards outlined in the Forum Rules are upheld. Debates can be heated and hard fought, but please do not cross the line.

Tournament Rules
1. Determining the Winner
A win is achieved when a character can continue fighting but their opponent cannot. Death, unconsciousness, immobility etc qualify as standards to deem someone unable to continue. Battlefield Removal does not count as a win. There are no ties/draws.

2. Suicide techniques
Techniques which render the user unable to continue afterwards are restricted. Seppuku is also out of the question for any reason.

3. Neutral location
The fights take place at a neutral venue that doesn't give any wizard an advantage/disadvantage because of location. The Timelapse also doesn't exist for Tournament purposes. Slayers cannot use external elements to power up. Ultear cannot appear in a ripple of time (such as Age Seal).

4. Characters
Restrictions have been applied to some of the participants magic. Sicknesses have been nullified for the fights. All characters are fighting to win at all costs - no emotional or psychological impediment will restrict their ability to battle. (added) No character is allowed preparation for the battle - spells such as runes can only be cast during the fight; and any wizard with modes/transformations start in their base state.

5. Knowledge
Participants will have no additional information about the other characters in the tournament aside from what they already know (canonically).

6. Feats, Portrayal, and Hype.
As a guideline, feats should take precedence. Portrayal and Hype are permitted, it is at your discretion how much they can apply to certain characters.

7. Threads and polls
Please leave the polls, the threads, the updates, etc to us. We (the staff) will take care of all organizational business. All you guys have to do is discuss, vote and enjoy the tournament!

8. Voting
There will be 4 votes in the group stage but only 1 vote allowed in all rounds afterwards. We understand that opinions are prone to change so as long as the poll is open, you're allowed to change your vote. In the event that there is a tie in the Grand Final, the poll will be kept open until another vote is cast

Tournament Information:

There are 32 participants in the tournament and the tournament will happen in mainly two stages.

Stage 1 (Group Stage): The first stage is the Group Stage. There are 4 groups with 8 fighters each. The Group Stage is a battle royale. All characters are to fight each other in a free for all. The last 4 to remain standing progress to the next stage. Members will vote for 4 in each group to make a total of 16 who continue to the next stage.

Stage 2 (Knockout Stage): All battles following the Group Stage will be knockout battles. Participants will face off in 1 vs 1 matches where the winner progresses to the next round. Members will vote to decided winners in these battles. The tournament will continue in this manner until the Final Battle, at which point, the Winner of the fight is crowned the Winner of the Tournament. There will be 4 rounds in this stage: Best of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals.
