Discussion Unreliable narrator?

Recently the use of the narrator in One Piece has been pretty much unreliable. Like for example the narrator announced Kaido as the winner and also it does seem that with how the narration of the Law and Kidd pirates was it also appears as if it's something more, as well as the Garp situation.

As the story progresses in the final saga, we get more narrator as well as more "news" about the world which we rarely got between arcs, now it seems news and fake news is a big topic in OP, is Oda addressing a real life issue with the narrator and the news or is there something more to it?

Why? Luffy was dead after the narrator said that kaido won. His Heart stopped beating. The Fruit awakened and brought him back to life. Without the fruits awakening luffy would be dead meat by now

I don't think One Piece would go the meta commentary route and mirror real life disinformation in such a subtle way through its narrator. You're reading too much into this, IMO.

It’s not an unreliable narrator. The narrator is just narrating in real time and calling things as they happen.

I always thought that the narrator is an old Usopp and the whole story is being told to a kid, so I can see Usopp startling his audience a little, here and there, you know.
