What is the ToC ranking?
ToC stands for Table of Contents. It's found on the last page of every issue of WSJ, but more importantly, the order the series appear in on the ToC is closely related to the popularity of the series. This is determined by polling the readers; there is a polling postcard in every issue of WSJ.

Each week, a certain person from 2ch writes out the ToC for the following week's WSJ issue. ToC series order is usually based on polling result of readers, thus you will know how your favorite series are doing based on the order.

Some exceptions, etc:
- For the 2nd-8th chapters, ToC is already decided, though it could change depending on readers' ranking.
- The ToC is affected by the popularity of 8 chapters ago.
The 2020 WSJ ToC thread is located here.

2021 wishes
- More Kimetsu anime greatness in 2021 from ufo + a Gotouge return (might have to wait a bit more for that though)
- JJK 10m
- Tadahiro Miura's return (can be outside of WSJ too)
- More big new series that sell a LOT (and current series to keep growing)

Predictions for 2021

1. JJK becomes a million seller (sells 800k monthly per volume)
2. CSM anime gets announced when the manga ends.
3. Mashle experiences faster growths and reaches 120-150k in sales per vol.
4. UxU also grows to similar heights as Mashle and they become big rivals (which will be fantastic)
5. Sakamoto Days V1 becomes one of the biggest debuts in WSJ in a long time
6. Build King is still around and does admirably, though not on the same level as Toriko
7. Matsui comes back with a big debut with big numbers
8. Burn-u Za Witch-u comes back for S2 and does similarly in terms of Vol sales.
9. Cop and Dolphin, Moriking, Agravity, Roboco, Yozakura all end in 2021.
10. MHA, Dr. Stone manage to remain stable in Vol sales.
11. Phantom Seer holds on somehow.

Things I expect in 2021:
-Jujutsu Kaisen potentially ending in 2021 Oricon top-3.
-My Hero Academia potentially ending in 2021 Oricon top-5.
-A new spokon.
-A new romcom.
-At least 2 hits.
-No veteran manga ending this year (not counting WNL and CSM).
-No anime announcement (or CSM getting one, but it would be the only one).
-Yozakura Family finally getting a cover.
-Only 1-2 veterans coming back.
-Mashle, Undead Unluck, Ayakashi Triangle, and maybe Roboco getting their first copies in circulation number.
-Agravity Boys surviving the entire year thanks to it continuously getting Unlimited Cushion Works.

  • Kimetsu retains 1st
  • Jujutsu kaisen takes 2nd
  • Kimetsu no Yaiba [GAIDEN] manages to take a spot on half year's oricon top 10 by series, making it the first time a series has taken 2 spots on the chart
  • Spy x Family gets anime
  • Matsui returns
  • Both double issues are OP themed in celebration of chapter 1000; issue 5-6 is full of tributes
  • One Piece gets a movie among other projects for the year
  • Kimetsu gets either S2 or RLD movie announcement at kimetsufest in february
  • Build king keeps getting pushed, but performs well albeit not exceptionally
  • Mashle gets anime announcement at jump festa (next year)

  • Gotouge returns, but not to WSJ

I'll copy/paste my predictions from last topic:

- One Piece out of Wano arc and entering the final 5-year long arc that we all are waiting for;
- HxH won't return, we have to admit to ourselves that the series is pretty much dead;
- Academia will become the new extra-long Jump series, though not as long as OP, and in 2021 will show no sign of closure;
- Same for Black Clover and Dr. Stone, with the latter one preparing the way to end in 2022;
- JJK will become a huge it and second only to OP in popularity;
- We'll get Burn the Witch season 2 in spring/summer and season 3 in fall/winter;
- No anime announcements in 2021, only Chainsaw man will get a series of OVA (à la Hellsing Ultimate);
- Yozakura will maintain its position and may or may not conclude within next year;
- Mashle and Undead spend all the year trying to solidify their fanbase, and their true explosion, with anime and stuff, will be on 2022. The former may explode first, but the latter will become the most popular on the long run;
- Ayakashi will remain as big as it is now as the resident ecchi series. Roboco will be the resident gag series instead;
- Magu and Dolphin will remain alive until the beginning of summer. The second may have a chance of sudden popularity, but I wouldn't bet on it (sigh);
- Phantom Seer will underperform and be axed eventually. HSF won't last long. OBO will be the first U19 of 2021;
- 2021 will be the year of the RomCom-bowl, it will be the prominent genre of debuting series. Many will fall, only one will survive, probably Blue Box;
- No big series will end during this year, and as younger series get estabilished, it will become harder for a debuting series to get popular: the axe will run crazy next year.
- That being said, we will see 2-3 new successful series, with one of them becoming a huge hit, and the roster will start to feel complete again (a process that will conclude in 2022).

Well, few predictions:

-Yozakura will keep growing each volume
-Yozakura will get a cover besides the 2nd anniversary one
-First two predictions are more like it will just 100% happen but a real personal prediction is that Yozakura will get a anime before Mashle and Undead due not only the constant growing in popularity but that will be over 100 chapters by 2021, perfect moment.
-Build King will be popular, maybe not as much as Toriko, Toei will be watching it closely
-Iwamoto Naoki will finally return with a new series after 9 years
-Komi Naoshi will return with a romcom (God have mercy of us)
-Black Clover anime will be renewed for the 5th year
-Miura will return with the mecha/space one shot
-Group covers will be fun with the series status changing
-Cop & Dolphin will do fine

By all means.
- Jujutsu Kaisen’s backlogs and growth will propel it to beating One Piece at the end of the yearly rankings.
- Chainsaw Man will have an anime announced at Jump Festa to air in Fall 2021 or Winter 2022, in order to celebrate the ending of the manga.
- The first batch of 2021 newbies will be relatively big, at least 4 new manga. One of them will be a romance, hoping to replace We Never Learn. This will not be Blue Box.
- Blue Box will come later in 2021, near the beginning of Spring. It focuses on multiple couples and multiple sports and will be a pretty big success.
- Undead Unluck, MASHLE, and Ayakashi Triangle solidify their positions as the hits of 2020.
- Mission: Yozakura Family legs it out to 2022. Agravity Boys doesn’t make it past the first 6 months.
- Build King does in-between Samurai 8 and Burn The Witch. Not a failure, but not successful either. It’ll have an extended lifespan due to the person writing it, however.
- We’ll finally get a spokon. It won’t be as good as Haikyuu, but it’s good enough to instantly become a hit. The sport? Track, swimming, or baseball.
-My Hero Academia continues strong, even seeing a bump in sales from the third movie, the new project, and Season 5. It will find itself out of the yearly Top 5 by the end, though. It’s more or less becomes a benchmark for good or great success.
- Kimetsu no Yaiba completes the three-peat as #1 best selling manga of the year. A second season of the anime is announced at the anime event in February (I think) and will air in Fall 2021.
- Black Clover begin to wind down significantly, sales wise and narrative wise.
- Dr. Stone begins to wind down narrative wise.
- Cancellations: Our Blood Oath, High School Family, Magu-Chan, Cop and Dolphin, Phantom Seer. Me and Roboco survives because Nak is hell-bent on making sure a gag manga succeeds.
- Hunter x Hunter will return... but not in the next 6 months.
- One Piece will just finish Wano by the end of the year.
- Sakamoto Days becomes a hit and solidifies itself as a solid comedy in the magazine.

Never bothered doing this before but why not
  • Ao no Hako isn't serialized this year
  • Posuka/Shirai continue just making TPN one-shots with nothing new
  • Jump publishes an isekai manga that has middling success
  • Usazaki returns with a rookie writer. Other returns are Matsui and Gen Osuka.
  • Chainsaw Man lasts until spring
  • Agravity Boys end the same batch
  • No new anime adaptations
  • Jujutsu S2 airs in October
  • Demon Slayer S2 announced but doesn't air until 2022
  • TPN "final season" announced also not airing until 2022.
  • Burn the Witch S2 is announced to return in 2022 with another movie releasing the same day to adapt this set of chapters.
  • Another Jump arena fighter announced, will be just as bad as the others.

Don't remember what I put before and don't care to search for it but here we go

KNY gets 200 million in circulation
JJK gets to 500-600k per volume seller
Ayakashi gets to 140k per volume seller cause yabuki's a god
MASHLE gets to 130k per volume seller
UU gets to 110k per volume seller
Yozakura gets to 90k per volume seller
Chainsaw Man ends at chapter 100 or 106
Agravity boys, OBO, and Moriking ends
Chainsaw Man anime Summer 2021
Burn the Witch Fall 2021
New serializations: Ao no Hako, My Little Mars, Red Hood author, Count Over author?, and the Badminton GFC manga artist
Returning veterans: Matsui, Gotouge, and TPN duo
Gag reps will be Roboco and Magu
Some massive new hit comes around, like 80k seller out of nowhere for a newbie

  • Chainsaw Man will receive an anime adaptation, but it won't cause backlogs to surge to the degree of Kimetsu/Jujutsu
  • Yozakura will survive the year, and will continue to try to catch up to the Undead/Mashle grouping
  • Ayakashi firmly cements itself in the lineup
  • Mashle and Undead both continue to grow in sales, but Mashle will grow at a much faster rate
  • Our Blood Oath gets gloriously axed before its first volume gets released
  • Magu-chan and Roboco will slowly increase in sales, Dolphin will stagnate
  • Agravity Boys wraps up the series in a way that doesn't feel like a rushed ax
  • High School Family will survive the year and coast off of other axebait
  • Phantom Seer doesn't exceed 5 volumes
  • Build King will get pushed insanely hard, but not as outrageously as Samurai 8 was
  • Dr. Stone and Black Clover will continue to be stable veteran series that sell well, but don't grow too much
  • One Piece and MHA dominate
  • We Never Learn sensei route ends in a lackluster manner
  • Burn the Witch's next appearance will be towards the end of 2021
  • HxH remains unseen throughout the year
  • The new standard is going to be the 10k club instead of the 30k club for newbies
  • Moriking's ending will be outrageous and unforgettable
  • Sakamoto Days lives and sells roughly similarly to Undead's original amounts

- Agravity Boys, Moriking, Bokura no Ketsumei and Koukousei Kazoku all end in 2021.
- Shakunetsu no Nirakanai, Magu-chan, Me & Roboco and Honomieru Shounen survive until the middle of the year.
- Ayakashi Triangle grows to Yuuna's numbers but doesn't get past that.
- Black Clover either stagnates in sales or drops, anime isn't as popular after Yoshihara's departure.
- Chainsaw Man ends in 2021 but gets an anime adaptation.
- Burn the Witch gets another movie announced at Jump Festa next year, new chapters released near the movie's release.
- Build King gets pushed by the magazine, but only manages to reach pre-anime Dr. Stone's heights.
- Dr. Stone drops in sales, starts to head into conclusion in 2022.
- Hunter x Hunter still doesn't come back.
- Jujutsu Kaisen's anime boost stays strong and it finishes second place.
- Kimetsu no Yaiba mantains its spot at the top of yearly sales and the second season airs later in the year.
- Mashle keeps growing and reaches 100,000 copies first month, might get an anime announcement at Jump Festa 2022. Undead Unluck shows more growth, but not to Mashle's extent. Both series get covers for their 1st year anniversary.
- Mission: Yozakura Family keeps its trend of small growths, but doesn't go much further than 50,000 first month. Might get a cover for its 2nd anniversary.
- Sakamoto Days becomes fairly popular and doesn't get too far behind Build King in popularity.
- One Piece gets pushed but sales don't grow significantly, might stabilize. Only releases 3 volumes this year and once again is the #3 in yearly sales.
- My Hero Academia once again gets a slight boost from the new season and the movie, helping it mantain its spot in the top 10 yearly sales, might get top 5. Jump pushes it a bit more this year.
- Another insane amount of serializations this year.

eh

- Jujutsu becomes the second biggest seller of the magazine, surpassing MHA, although not by much. I will say.... 600k/700k first month.
- A new big hit from a newbie/someone without a previous hit series
- Shinohara Kenta and Yuusei Matsui returning
- Neverland duo returns
- One Piece finishes Wano
- Jump issues around chapter 1000 are all in celebration of the milestone
- Boku no Hero Academia will have a timeskip (not necessarily a big one, but something that will clearly estabilish a new phase for the series)
- Mashle grows to above 100k, Undead stagnates a little, but enough to survive without issues.

-Blue box serialization is a success but nothing massive
-Build King sells quite well but not to the extent of Toriko
-Sakamoto days is also a success
-Kimetsu S2/RLD movie announced
-Jigokuraku & SxF anime announcements with Jigo getting a huge (or bigger) boost whenever the anime is released

Man, 2020 my first time becoming a member of this fourm. Compare us in January 2020 to now I think it’s safe to assume to expect the unexpected so my prediction will most likely be inaccurate for the most part.
  • KNY due to later season, game, and last volume will definitely be number 1 in terms of sales this year estimating around 20 million copies
  • JJk becomes the top selling currently running jump manga that year with sales in the 10 million range possibly 2nd to one piece due to the later episodes of anime, will get season 2 either fall 2021 or winter 2022
  • One piece will sell a bit more than last year due to 1000 chapters and 100 volumes but honestly won’t expect a massive boost
  • Dr stone and black clover will continue to fall in sales
  • Ao no Haka serialized either this spring or summer
  • Chainsawman ends around Frebuary- March and gets an 2 cour anime adaptation this summer, will become extremely huge in the west and sell around 5-6 million this year
  • Fujimoto will serialize a new series late this year either in weekly jump or plus
  • Hunter x Hunter doesn’t return (hope the opposite)
  • Agrivity boys, cop and dolphin, our blood oath, mori king and magu chan all get axed early this year
  • Me and roboco and phantom seer will be mid tier manga
  • Mission Yozakura family will stay this year but not make major leap in sales, get anime early 2022
  • Mashle, ayakashi triangle, and UU will make great strides this year greatly increasing in sales and will be heavingly promoted by jump
  • We will have a major wave of romcoms and sports manga the first half of the year with only 1 romcom and 2 sport series surviving
  • Jump will also serialized more edgy manga to replace TPN and CSM but only 1 will survive
  • Build kings will dissapoint in sales yet still be good enough to stay
  • Sakamoto days will be a major hit on volume 1

I've adjusted my predictions from the last thread, edited some and added a few others.

New Series:
  • Burn the Witch Season 2 to be out Summer 2021, will be slightly longer than Season 1.
  • Hunter x Hunter returns for 10 chapters at some point in the year.
  • Blue Box gets serialised early-mid 2021, volume 1 has pretty strong sales.
  • Red Hood wins GFC, gets serialised late-2021, is hyped up as the next best battle shonen by Western fans perhaps to its own detriment.
  • Returning veterans:
    • Yuusei Matsui (Assassination Classroom)
    • Kaiu Shirai/Posuka Demizu (My Promised Neverland)
    • Shiro Usazaki (Act-Age) with new writer, perhaps with a one shot first.
  • A couple sports manga get released leading up to/around the Tokyo Olympics in direct competition with each other - only one survives 2021. (Sport predictions: Baseball/softball, boxing, surfing)
  • All other new titles will be by relative newcomers.

Anime-related:
  • Demon Slayer S2 will air, giving it another sales boost.
  • Haikyuu!! S5 will be announced/air.
  • Chainsaw Man anime announced when/after the manga ends - will be a two-cour adaptation of the entire manga.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen S2 announced, airing 2022.
  • Mashle and Undead Unluck anime announced, airing 2022.

Current/Relevant Series:
  • Demon Slayer will remain the best selling manga of 2021 thanks to the push from the final volume and a boost when S2 comes around. Manages to reach 150,000,000 in circulation by this time next year, sells around 30,000,000 copies in 2021.
  • One Piece will get massive celebration for the 1,000th chapter, including all other titles having a cameo of some sort (similar to the straw hats a while back) in every chapter that week. Wano arc will finally conclude, Carrot and/or Yamato will join the crew.
  • My Hero Academia continues strong and enters 'final arc' by the end of 2021.
  • Black Clover begins to fall in the rankings once the anime ends (similar to Bleach during the Lost Agent arc) and sales continue to drop, but is still in no serious danger.
  • Dr. Stone continues to perform well in the TOC, sales stagnate, enters 'final arc' at some point during 2021.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen becomes 2nd best-seller of 2021 after Demon Slayer, volume sales manage to peak at around 700,000 within a month.
  • Mission: Yozakura Family remains well-placed in the TOC, no anime announcement. Gets a cover on its 2nd anniversary. Ends at around 100 chapters.
  • Mashle and Undead Unlock continue to be marketed as a pair. Both get anime announcements at Jump Festa next year, which would technically be a 2022 prediction. Mashle will end up selling 70-80k per volume, Undead Unluck around 50-60k.
  • Ayakashi Triangle, Me & Roboco survive mostly in the middle in the TOC throughout the year, occasionally circling into the bottom 5 but make it into 2022. The former touched 70k sales per volume by the end of the year, Me & Roboco 30k per volume.
  • Natural Endings: We Never Learn and Chainsaw Man are already a given, but I expect Mission: Yozakura Family by late 2021.
  • Cancellations (in rough order):
    • (1) Moriking
    • (2) Our Blood Oath
    • (3) Agravity Boys
    • (4) Phantom Seer
    • (5) High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku
    • (6) Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin
    • (7) Magu-chan: God of Destruction
  • Magu-chan might survive depending on how the new 2021 series perform.
  • Build King gets promoted to high hell and receives consistently high TOC rankings, sales tell a less enthusiastic story.
  • Sakamoto Days performs relatively well with volume sales and develops a dedicated fanbase online similar to Chainsaw Man.
