Togashi. Irrisponsible, doing what he feels like doing, heck imo he kinda resembles a younger Togashi.

Ging bears a strong resemblance to Yusuke Urameshi, Togashi's previous shonen protagonist, and shares a similar laid-back personality.

I think Ging is rather similar to the father of the main character in Yaiba (by the author of Conan): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaiba
both of them are lazy but powerful guys who left their families to pursue whatever they're interested in and want their sons to surpass them.

yea, for all intensive purposes because of Togashi's art style I just view Ging as a 20-30 something year old Yusuke Urameshi. Course their personalities are different but as a YYH and HxH fan thats how I like to see it.

I've always felt that Ging is an older Yusuke. Ging acts EXACTLY how I imagine an older Yusuke to be lol. I wouldn't even be surprised if Ging ends up using an emission technique and it's a damn Reigun. It would be funny if Togashi had a scene where Ging said : "I needed to be hit by this more than I would like before mastering it.." and then uses Sensui's technique haha.

But what do we know about Ging? Nothing much really. The most interesting character in HxH and we know little about him. Togashi failed big time on this one. Is't just me? Or y'all can see how Togashi is trying to milk the moment to the very last drop.

I don't see it.
We didnt see anything of ging until recently (which is obvious because gon was searching for him) and after gon met ging, we saw a lot about him, introducing part of his abilities, introducing his goal and generrally giving him a lot of dialogue and screentime.

We know more about ging than we know about any of the zodiac (cept kurapica and leorio) by now.

So Gon was searching for him, big deal.
You don't have to meet somebody to know many things about. How he grew up, relationships, stories, adventures, friendships, you can know many things about people without actually meeting them. And you know that Ging was introduced in the beginning.
Man,and all the bullshit about him being untraceable and shit, what the fuck has he been doing all that time, we know he hasn't been to the DC, and I'm assuming he's been keeping tabs on Gon and Netero, probably many others too. So were was he, what the fuck was he doing. If you don't want to talk about somebody, don't mention his name, its that simple. But if you mention someone that is very interesting, obviously people will want to know more about, and then you refuse to say any more than what you already said, then you'r milking the moment buddy.

Why would we need to know a lot about ging if the story is not about him?
We know he grew up on whale island and then made his way as a hunter.
That is stuff for a spin off story, we had enough glimpses on what he did (whale island, hunter exam, then on to find ancient ruins and find a lot of partners to hunt ancient things, after that trying to get a way to go to the dark continent. Somewhere inbetween teaching Kaito. How much more would we need to know?).

Ging did have some buildup, which was necessary.

Milking is a completely other thing than that.
It is just that ging was not important for the story until the point we are at at the moment.
He was just the goal that moved the plot forward as motivation for the maincharacter and nothing more.

Basically, with your logic, you could also say Oda is milking one piece because luffy didnt get to meet shanks yet (consciously) and the first part of OP didnt show us a lot of shanks action.

What you are asking is that Oda makes ging less exciting by telling us what his powers are and letting him steal spotlight from the maincharacters before he is even really relevant for the story, and that wouldn#t be a good idea.

We can argue all day about a technicality. But the truth is, Togashi is taking advantage of the privileges he has, and doesn't care about his fans what so ever. He's saying "fuck off" to your faces, and your OK with it! Funny what people would do for comics. XD

Why would he care about his fans? For which reason?
Why should he make cuts from his private life to fullfill the wishes of fans of which a lot don't even pay for his work?

He dishes out quality chapters, that is all you can exspect from a a manga artist.

Sometimes it just takes some time to do good creative work.
The same is true for game of thrones and a lot of other fictional works.

You wouldnt accuse a band for not making a new album for some years when they need some time for new input.

Also, you are goign off topic.

We talked about Ging Freeks, and the build up for him was not a bad choice. Ging was built up as an interesting character fans wanted to see more of, and now we get to see more of him.
That is basically how you do such things 0.o
