Language What Languages do you know?

Fluent in french and English, little spanish... Oh, and few words of japanese (thanks to MH forum )

English (spoken-average ,written-average, understand-Advanced),
Polish (Mother tongue),
Spend 10 years of my life in central Africa so i learned 2 dialects Linguala + Mbochi
Russian (understand smth , can read !!!:-)
Spanish (understand what's written cause of the similarity with french but can't understand a word when it comes to speak )
Basic Japanese ( last year i took some lessons for 6 months, i can read hiragana and know 50 kanji of level 1) but i'm too lazy and too busy to continue...

Japanese (Reading at highschool-college level and writing at elementary level)

English (Profficient)


English was my second language, although some people don't believe me. ^.^ The benefits of taking ESL (English as a Second Language) classes at age 5 I guess.

I can't really read kanji more as guess what the kanji is based on the context of the sentence and the hiragana around it.

Just wanted to thank you all for taking the time to post and don't be surprised if we call on one of you in some situations XD

I know English, Latin, Sign Language ( it does count as a separate language, sometimes it's actually closer to French in origin than English ) and some basics for nearly every major language out there thanks to my experience at these forums

very true GK, thanks for the uplifting words for those unsure of what im chatting about i have a mother who speaks 7 languages and sister who speaks 6. but enough about little old me.

I can understand, read, speak and write perfectly only in Lithuanian.
I perfectly understand and read in Polish, but when it goes to talking and writing... I start to insert too much of Russian, Lithuanian, and mine created words... And my grammar really sucks...
I understand Russian but It's very hard to speak to me without inserting Polish words... And I suck at reading in Russian...
I allmost perfectly understand written English, and my understanting of spoken English is average. But I suck at writing... And in speaking I suck even more...

Polish (native)
English (I'm learning it since I was 7^^)
German (little, I've learned it for 2 yrs only)
French (like German, but it's been 3 yrs)
Latin (it's obvious since I'm studing medicine^^)
very very little Japanese... I had extra lessons in High School...

Ok, now me "starts bragging":

Romanian - duh (my own language)
English - proficient
French - decent I think, I used to be pretty good at it, but the years have taken their toll
Spanish and Italian - I have a pretty good understanding of both, but I'm not quite able to use them

That's interesting. Different styles for different schools, I guess. We had almost nothing to do with Latin in med school.

with some training, i'd probably get my good ol' italian and french knowledge back too... it kinda mixes up your head though... oh, and i can read and write korean. speaking and listening is long gone, since there are few koreans where i live... *_*
