Iirc, I think that image of an older Ryoma was from one of the past pair puris Konomi made.

The most recent one is when he draw two years ago all the current MS selection three years from now on and Ryoma is a 1st year Hser, that was when Japan was facing Germany (when QP defeated Oni).

Some of them like Yuki, Kintarou or Kite changed drastically and look more manly obviously. Kirihara also had a drastical change too, like Yanagi.

Others like Fuji, Ryoma, Sanada or Shiraishi look the same, but in the case of Ryoma he looks older obviously, more and more like Ryoga and is way taller than he was like Kin.
