I haven't played a number of the most popular ones. Like GTA 5, or Red Dead Redemption (only played a bit with friends, it was okay...), or Witcher 3 (it's been on my list since forever, I'll get to it eventually). Maybe that's why I can't really think of too many games in the last decade I truly loved. Had trouble coming up with 10, but these came to mind in no particular order:

Heavy Rain
Mass Effect 2
Danganronpa V3
Persona 5
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (surprised no one mentioned this)
Nier: Automata
Dead Space 2
Starcraft II Wings of Liberty (let's not talk about Heart of the Swarm)
Batman Arkham City (Asylum was better but it's from 2009...)
The Last of Us

Ewww Heavy Rain. The rest is great '-'

What I found surprising is that I thought DR v3 was seen as the weakest? Currently playing 2 so I can't know. Just curious because I listed Dark souls but looking back I probably should had listed ds2, which is also seen as the weakest in its franchise.

Every couple of months I check its subreddit hoping for good news about global and then leave sad. I know it's not coming but I still do this to myself.

Yeah it's a great game. Every characters even the weakest ones has their own characters quest which make every characters memorable.

I'm mainly a Nintendo guy so there will be that sort of lean in my list, but without listing them in order this is probably a top 10 for me:

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Dark Souls III
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Tomb Raider
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Tactics Ogre Battle remake for the PSP was released in 2010.

So that actually qualifies and is an excellent choice in this JRPG nerds opinion.

I would argue it doesn't matter it's all the same game. I've played all of them.

Well Heavy Rain was a unique game, but I can see legitimate reasons for why one wouldn't like it

And V3 isn't the weakest by any means, in my eyes (that would be 1). Though for most it depends entirely on how you view the last part of the game, I know there's a bunch of people who really didn't like it for various reasons, but personally I thought it was great. I hope you'll like it too, feel free to share your thoughts once you've made it there

I really enjoyed Heavy Rain as well. It was a pretty unique experience back when it came out. Since then there have been lot more of that type of narrative heavy sort of game but at the time I remember being awed by how it was pretty much a fully featured interactive movie. And a very enjoyable one at that.

For me it was just sort of upstaged by a game that came later which I enjoyed a lot more in Until Dawn but that has more to do with my taste in movies that it does the quality of the games.
