Summary and Preview

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects--and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal…or his life? Death Note 13 uncovers more details about the characters and the relationships between them, both human and death god characters. The reasonings behind the story line and more info about the Death Note are also described later in the volume. (It seems to be a databook)

I'll start out by warning you this review may be biased, because death note is quite possibly at the top of my favorite mangas. This series is a fantastic mix of obata takeshi's artistic genius and ohba sugumi's psychological warfare. The story is one of the most gripping titles I've ever read, with fantastic cliffhangers, twists, and surprises. The underlying moral premise to the series--to kill for the sake of good--is also very involving. The whole time this was published in jump, I died waiting every week for the next chapter.

The series does get very wordy and relies heavily on your ability to stay on top of what's going on. For some, this may be too deep a comic, with many events occurring simultaneously. But in all I've read across the internet, most people only complain about the ending.

For better or worse, this comic is fantastic. A true work of art. Read it. Permalink " "

This manga is not your typical Weekly Shonen Jump manga and L and Light aren't your normal Weekly Shonen Jump Protagnist. But thats what make it it so intersting. Permalink " "
