A medieval fantasy.

When the con artist Siam encounters the legendary "Exiled Sage" Grant Leauvas, he's a little surprised -- the man seems little more an addled old hermit living alone in the wilderness, leeching off travellers naive enough to take pity in him. And yet, travelling together with Leauvas for a time, he bears witness to an assortment of prodigies and curiousities, and begins to wonder if his initial judgment might have been a bit off.

Unknown to Siam, the moment he encountered the Exiled Sage, he involved himself in prophecized a sequence of events that might or might not culminate in a potentially world-changing disaster ...
