yea it would be an interesting turn if Suzaku later was proven not as strong as people thought

Obviously that's coming considering it's Mashima we're talking about. It would've happened even if Suzaku legit beat Selene. We all know it's coming, sooner or later

But that's the future. Let's wait and see how Mashima executes this. August and Eileen, while not living upto hype/expectation, was still somewhat protected even in their deaths.

He's a swordsman so it's probably gonna be Erza to fight and beat him. I just hope it's not gonna be another Ikaruga situation, him stomping the entire time only for Erza to end up one-shotting him at the end due to nakama power.

The fact that Suzaku v Gildarts was so close is really sad. A non-serious Selene >>> anyone in FT that isn't a godtier and Suzaku directly scales to her.

Funny thing is in an official Q&A with Mashima, he stated that the reason Gildarts does not return in 100 years quest arc is because he is too powerful for the setting.

I believe this was recent with what someone asked him about. I am not aware of any info on Laxus or Jellal.

Well considering what the latest chapter showed, that feat Suzaku did lost it's initial weight, and considering that Gildarts was already established to be below Acno, it is clear that Gildarts would be below slightly to the 5 DG, everyone else is beneath him.

I am iffy about them claiming to be on Acno's level, and considering that Acno could not oneshot Jellal who is weaker than Gildarts, that is a given.

And it was severely nerfed Aldo

Swap Serena by August, and result remains same. August didn't even register what had transpired until Acno one shotted Serena and reached like 100m behind them.

Gildarts gets one shot by any DG

Aldoron went down after one technique’s first use, as many people would put it, is a one shot, don’t really see a statement that he used all his MP, not severly, it didn’t really hamper him as he said it was only a little bit.
Not really when Irene managed to trade blows with Acno for a bit. And August is roughly the same level as her, Acno literally stated she was strong which acknowledges her.

if Jellal didn’t get one shot by Acno, I doubt Gildarts would get same treatment.

We Don’t know the specifics, and from the recent showings from characters weaker and stronger than Gildarts, it would confirm that there was indeed a fight with him.
