What new girl group?

BigHit CEO mentioned a new girl group debuting under Source Music recently. They had international auditions too. Even before he confirmed it there had been speculation about it happening due to a female former SM creative director joined BigHit a year ago or so and the fact that they haven't tried since before BTS blew up. Was probably expected at some point anyway.

To have your song go viral due to a random Youtube compilation and get 13 Perfect All-Kills 4 years after it releases and then get your first music show win as a group on Inkigayo. Not sure anything else can be compared to it at this point.

It's not like Loona invented having story/lore-based concepts for groups, SM has had them as well, like with EXO, but they usually ended up ditching them. It is funny that SM sees them as being something worth doing again all of a sudden after LSM's involvement with Loona. I guess it's flattering... but you can't really put on a Loona wig and be Loona.

But yeah, it was obvious to me from the jump that SM was inspired by KDA and Loona and some other things to a degree. But of course company-stans will act like such a thing is impossible. SM has "stolen" stuff from others before, hell the original concept photos for the group were clearly "inspired" by another person's work. So much so that they hired him for the new concept photos this time around to bury any controversy.

Yeah but WayV members are going to be in the NCT U stuff. NCT as a whole is among the few that I wouldn't consider sneaks this year, despite the whole SM and CJ thing.

Idk about peaking since they don't seem to be losing fans over putting out songs that I personally don't care for, but I digress...

I liked Not Shy more than Wannabe, but other than that the only other track of theirs that stood out to me was Dalla Dalla. But in general I find a lot of their music very hit or miss, more misses than hits for me.

I'm not sure if it's the case that they truly have no standout vocalists, or there's just far too much bad rapping in their songs that makes me feel that way. That's definitely a common complaint I have with most Kpop but they have to be the worst offenders when it comes to girl groups.
