Actually, he's on his 3rd life... the 1st life he was born Yun Che but raised a Xiao till he was 15 where he died of poisoning. He possessed the Mirror of Samsara since infancy so might as well use it to resurrect.

On his 2nd life he was born on the Azure Cloud Continent where he was training to be a doctor. He got the Sky Poison Pearl here.... and died right at the beginning of the novel... jumping off the cliff.

On his 3rd life he actually was put right back in his original body from the 1st life, at the age of 15 again, in his sickbed after being poisoned. since he has the Sky Poison Pearl now, he doesn't immediately die again.

I can't remember where, but I seem to recall, the Mirror of Samsara needs 20 years to recharge between usages so his original body needs to be 35 before he can reuse it again...

That's not quite the way I understood it. As I saw it.

His first life was his one in Azure Cloud right? There he learned his medical skills, got the poison pearl, and ultimately took his swan dive off a cliff. Then at the beginning of the story he wakes up in the crippled body of Yun Che (at the time known as Xiao Che) who was poisoned. Then cured the poison inherited his memories and basically took over that life.

He did end up in Azure Cloud again later at an earlier point his timeline but that wasn't a different life. He was still Yun Che there. So he's only has two lives, his original and Yun Che (who was somebody else up until the point he was poisoned and our Yun Che took over).

That is what's kind of weird me out about this arc. He's getting so emotional about these people being his biological parents. I mean, while technically that's what they are they are more accurately the parents of the person he replaced who was poisoned way back in the first chapter right?

They whole thing is pretty odd.

Well, we never actually saw the part between birth and his 15 yr old death in the story. It was all spoken of by his familly and foster family.

Yun Che's life in Azure Cloud was at first wonderful, then became traumatic... until he died. I think this left more of an impact on him, especially since he was an adult when he died. It is, of course, the first of his lives we are exposed to so it's natural to think this was his first life... even if it was pretty short in the novel.

When he was reborn again, we are in the body of the 15yr old Yun Che, after it died of poison. He can remember the life of the young Yun Che as if it was his own. Here is where we differ

I believe he actually is Yun Che. The reason for that is the Mirror of Samsara. He's possessed it in all 3 lives. It's ability seems to be resurrection.
If the young Yun Che possessed it when he died, then what happened between the time of his death and before the Azure Cloud Yun Che got it?
If they are not the same person, that missing period would pretty much require another missing story chunk.

I think it's much more likely that the Mirror of Samsara simply put the newly dead Azure Cloud Yun Che, back into the body of young Yun Che, to continue his life there instead of finding a new body. It's almost as if the entire Azure Cloud life's purpose was to acquire the Sky Poison Pearl in order to cure his original body.

I don't know. Maybe. Feels like a retconn in progress to me. Like even the author forgot these people aren't REALLY his parents.

That all being said, whatever they're emotional relation to the merciless wrath he is about to unleash upon their enemies is pretty great. That upstart guy who was pretending to be nice is about to be...(wait for it)... handled! *ba-dum-bum-tss*

The 'nice guy', I think it was all his father's idea. Seems pretty likely anyway. I'm curious just how many of the 'guests' were in on it. Probably all of them except for the 'Underheaven' clan.

This talk of the Little Demon Empress and how scary she is has me suspecting we're going to see Smooth Che again very soon.

Come to think of it, it couldn't possibly be true. She would have had to disappear from the Demon Illusionary Realm for a few years at least in order for that to work out... I think someone would have noticed.

She can still join Yun Che's harem though.

I'm betting that despite his best hiding techniques, she senses that item Yun Che is carrying that is supposed to instruct her how to absorb the golden crows flames and chases him all over the city.

Man do I love ATG, so freaking awesome, even though after a while you start to know what is going to happen, still epic. Chapter 542 out already and apparently there is gonna be a big surprise next week (cross fingers for a gazillion new chapters)

I started reading with Tales of Demons and Gods. Specifically the manga version: http://www.mangatown.com/manga/tales_of_demons_and_gods/ (dunno if I can link this, mod delete if its not ok)

Then I just went for the Wuxiaworld translation of TDG from the start, even though I already read the manga, but I didn't want to miss any details xD


P.S.: If I had like 10b USD, I would totally throw it all into financing, for both ATG and TDG, a manga, anime, series, movies, games, etc...EVERYTHING.

That's the one I'd put up there with Against the Gods in terms of being an entertaining read. It's a bit like ATG but really funny.

You know by this point I should be tired of this kind of tournament but I'm not.

I totally know what's coming. It's going to be great. The only thing I can't quite figure out is how the Demon Empress is going to end up the new queen of Che harem. Because, if I have learned anything reading over 500 chapters of this, that's happening.

The author speed-demon'ed through the matches, and it looks like Yun Che will be up when the current one gets defeated.
I bet he'll defeat all the remaining opponents with their own specialty...
1) Poison specialist with the Sky Poison Pearl + his medical knowledge.
2) Dragon lineage family rep with the Azure Dragon Domain
3) Golden Crow skills vs the Divine Phoenix skills
4) don't remember any water skills, but he has them too.
And we haven't even mentioned the heavy sword skills too.

Thank god he hit the skip button. I'm actually pretty stoked to see Che take the stage and do some ass kickin' and demon queen seducin'. It was mildly torturous to sit through those first 4 fights. Like we all know what's coming, there was no need for the author to pretend otherwise.

Che is going to be the last person up. They are going to laugh at him because his level is so much lower. Then he's going to break out his super flames, dragon domains, and new mega-sword and rip through the lot of them like a bag of leaves. It's going to be great!

I'd laugh so hard if the author trolls us by making the current contestant win all the rest of the matches so Yun Che doesn't even get to go up.
That guy would get so much adulation from the crowds and the other Guardian families... and Yun Che gets no recognition, other than being the big mouthed Yun clan wannabe.

That would be an amazing troll. It would be hilarious for the first fight and about halfway through the second. Then the rage would consume me.

I'm pretty hyped to see those poor mortal bastards fight against Che's new super-mega-ultra sword, upgraded flash step ability, and body that is pretty much made out of granite after his rough ride from his former realm. They may be higher level but he has all cheats enabled.

But then the Yun Clan has to leave... so why not have Yun Che take them with him back to the Blue Wind Empire! They can even take the Empress with them since the bad clans want to depose her anyway. They would have to avoid the Four Great Sacred Grounds, of course, but if they show up, Yun Che could just claim he came back home alone using the portal, thank you very much for your concern.
When they are more aware of how the Mighty Heavenly Sword Region is setup, time for a little constructive destruction.

My prediction is that that she gets Dragon Domained that would be too great not to have it happen. Also, on a slight sidenote, would not be opposed to her applying for entry in the Che Harem. I mean, red haired dragon girl wielding a whip...enough said right?

When the preview pic for the Dragon Girl was initially posted, I thought it was for the Little Empress... my bad. Still looks good though.
After being Dragon Dominated maybe she will make her family change sides?
