My nominations

Whitebeard's death - was just so epic, really no other word for it. The speech leading up to it about the One Piece, and just how he stood there without a mark on his back.

Ace's death - truly saddening

Kuina's death - for the influence it had on Zoro

I nominate
Shirohige- A badass character deserves the most epic death in Anime history.

Ace- he has one of the most influential deaths in Anime. So he deserves to win.

Corazon- if I'm correct he is the first character connected or related to a villain we have seen die in OP

Like I already mentioned in Most Overrated Character, I really didn't feel much when Ace died. Maybe I was just jaded because I thought that entire arc had been a bit of a mess and I was growing indifferent to everything that happened, but... all it did was make me slightly o-faced that someone died in present-day, non-flashback One Piece. And even then, I really wasn't expecting anything else.
Most of all, I didn't think that scene was very well-made. Like everything else that happened at Marineford, there was too much going on, too much of a mess.

I do admit I thought Shirohige's death was badass, though. I can see why that gets all the praise.

I'm adding The Rumbar Pirates here as well (in addition to Most Emotional Moment). That whole scene is perfection in my eyes. Even if we didn't exactly get to know these characters well, the way they all went out was just incredible.
""What's wrong? Now this is just a Quartet... Trio... Duet... Solo..!"

Adding Going Merry. I've admitted it before, and will again: I cried for a fictional boat, something only Oda could pull off. Another scene of pure beauty.

And another one I feel is going to be overlooked otherwise:

I nominate Fisher Tiger's death; though stubborn and choosing to die than accepting human help, his dying moments revealed so much about his character and by his own admittance, how wrong he was to live with his rage. Ultimately not to live so to not taint the island and encourage the rage between his people and humans.

There's not a character I've respected more after their death than Whitebeard; his death was the way he lived his life; standing tall, protecting those that stood behind him, never turning his back. Simply EPIC.

Another dead that has made me cry (besides Ace and Going Merry) is Queen Otohime's death. One Piece does a great job in giving a lot of meaning to character's death, hence why I live that a lot do not die in vain and so often. Reading that arc and seeing her efforts to bring fishmen and merfolk to the surface and close to humans, you knew that her being alive was important for the growth and acceptance of her people. So in her dying, passing the torch to her children, her boys trying to put aside the shock and sadness of her death to calm their sister's trauma so that her powers would not destroy their island, that was gut-wrenching.

Went with Whitebeard. I watched it again just to re-affirm my selection.

Whitebeard, it was truly epic and manly, not to mention that he died in a similar way to Roger, in that he used his final words to "re-launch" the era of pirates, making sure everyone knew (again) that the One Piece was truly out there.

Hiluluk and Fisher Tiger are also very, very important ones when you consider the context and their beliefs. Those will be my other picks if Whitebeard happens to be taken out.

My vote goes to Ace, i didn't consider it in the least favorite character because he's dead, but if he were alive, oh boy... other story i would be saying.
In fact, i adore Akainu, he did it and in the worst way of receiving the punch, just because a madmouth to some cherished person. All was thrown to the trash can, an entire saga for just that reaction of him. I'm glad for that happening.

It's not just the best death, it's the best thing done.

Voted Whitebeard. Didn't smile like a D, but went out happy as hell thinking about his family.

I voted Rumbar Pirates. I had to neglect them in the Most Emotional Moment category, so they get all my love here instead.

Like I said earlier, this death scene is perfect. I don't know the names of these characters, but I cried for them. Tears more because of the beauty of the moment than their deaths, but tears nonetheless. "What's the matter? Now it's just a quartet... Trio... Duet... Solo!"

Shivers.

Whitebeard's death is damn brilliantly executed as well, not to mention badass as hell and had more of an impact than Brook's crew (obviously..) but that doesn't change my mind.

Maybe I'm just being a biased musician thinking "that's the perfect way to go". So be it.

One and only there WHITEBEARD ....No matter the times I watch his death and the speech he gave regarding one piece , I always find that part awesome.

  • The epicness he brought in the series even during his death is just stupendous..He died protecting his sons, the body did not fall even in death, such was his conviction and love for his sons that he went against the whole world to fight for them .

  • Not a single other in OP has done it or shown courage except few until now...But, stilll, noone has directly confronted and clashed them on.

  • His face facing the enemy even in death..Not a single time, has he shown his back to the enemy or ran away from the fight ..

  • He went there prepared to die despite his severely failing health .
So, no one else except WB's death for me is the definition of awesomeness in OP.
