I second Mikasa. She is the toughest, coolest, most ass kicking female lead in manga.

I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon to support this nomination as well. :p

Mikasa is a great character, well-developed and a fantastic portrayal of a strong, competent woman. To say she kicks ass is an understatement.

I support Gally from GUNNM as well. There aren't that many real female lead in shounen/seinen anyways. When I try to think about one, I just have two names popping in my mind: Gally & a certain claymore ... So, the choice was easy to do.

I nominate Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail as Best Female Lead. She has always helped Natsu out and is a powerful character who has grown since the manga has started.

EDIT: Fixed Lucy's name for hoeru's sake ;)
I support this as well.

I'd like to nominate Hildegarda/Hilda from Beelzebub as Best Female Lead. Strong and proud despite being in a servant position, charismatic as the male lead Oga, able to be womanly and motherly without the weak female clichè.

I support Fairy Tails Erza Scarlet. She is a acharackter known for her strenght, not some usual shounen support chick. Furthermore her main fighting style is sword-based. Swords are always a win for me - > Japans samruai xD

I don't consider Erza, Lucy, Hilda, Chidori, Rukia ... as "lead". For me the lead should be the main character only. So, it's Natsu in fairy tail & Oga in Beelzebub ... It's Ichigo in Bleach & sosuke in FMP ...

That's why I voted for Gally. She is a real undiscutable lead.

I admit that lucy, Chidori & Hilda can be considered as leads due to the fact that they are as present in the manga as the main character. But Erza & Rukia are clear support characters

Rukia is a female lead. Ichigo is 'main lead', where Rukia is 'female lead/fixed heroine' (Jump web, events). Being a lead and main character is something different I think.

The same would be for Lucy, Natsu is male lead/main character where Lucy is female lead/fixed heroine.
Although I agree on Erza, she seems more like support to me.

Well, you can nominate who you think should win the category ^^
