I nominate Thorfinn from Vinland Saga for best male lead.

Thorfinn was merry little boy like almost every Icelandic inhabitant was in childhood, but thanks to unpredictable development he became a murderer who seeks for revenge. His heart is filled with black clouds of hatred and he will not give up on killing Askeladd! As Thorfinn life continues some great changes befall him and his personality will change again. Who knows, maybe he will become a true warrior?

When you take Thorfinn and compare him to other revenge seekers in manga, you can clearly see what are Japanese (except Yukimura Makoto apparently) making wrong. While he is consumed by hatred Thorfinn never doubts his resolve. He never thinks about something like: "Should I forgive him?" No, he is reaching for his goal. He is losing all of his emotions except anger and hatred. Thorfinn is extremely deep character (as every character in works of Yukimura Makoto), but the reader has to think about what he is reading.

I nominate Eikichi Onizuka from Great Teacher Onizuka.

He is really a lead character. A character that carries the story on his shoulders. It's hard not to like his honest but stubborn personality and unconventional way of thinking. It is admirable how he believes in his students. He may not be smart, he may not be well-educated. But he sure knows life and teaches the kids the most important things. He really is the greatest teacher.

I'll nominate Rai (Cadis Etrama di Raizel) from Noblesse as the most epic (and best) lead The quiet, almost invisible (or, not so much, his stunning looks sure get him lots of attention), yet I always anticipate every move he makes. So ridiculous not knowing how to -insert modern technology- and crazy about ramen, and yet I say "Kneel" and the most. epic. scene. ever pops into my head. Modest, loving people....
...and knows how to choose a servant, yup

Ichigo has come far in Bleach. He has grown a lot

from losing his power to gaining them back and fighting in the Winter War. All his fights and all the friends he made ever since he became a Shinigami has made him a better person. I eagerly await 2012 as now Ichigo has the power to protect his loved ones again and it helps that Ichigo is more badass now.

I nominate Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara for Best Male Lead category
Because despite being arrogant, cool and noisy, he actually cares for everyone around him, especially his underlings, and has a kind spot, which add contrast to his character. The design for his weapon, Six Claws, too make his personality more appealing (this may be just to me lol)- drawing all his six swords, which signifies he'll fight with all his might with the opponent he acknowledges. Not to mention his 'Engrish' and seriousness can easily crack up a comedy scene

Killua from Hunter X Hunter.

He's smart, skillful,strong, versatile an assassin and intelligent as fuck. And He's only at 12.

Since Light is both the Main lead and Villain of Death Note, I'm going to nominate him for the former here. His incredible intellect and tactical mind, mixed with his ruthless ambition made him a superb character.
